Dave Cormack Returns

Recommended Posts

Says he's hoping to trial some stuff that MLS clubs use to increase attendances and better engage with the fans. Think everyone can agree that the club have traditionally made an absolute cunt of keeping the fans onside. Also says that he can potentially get some American cash into the club.

A tech savvy marketing guy with a bit of cash is exactly what the club need right now IMO. Ken other than a manager and half a team.

How does that work for the club though, the substantial investment in shares?

Doesnt that cash just go to whoever he bought the shares from or has Milne and co agreed to devalue their shares further to create new ones?

Hopefully he can bring some new ideas in and if he can get some of his tech mates on board then its all gravy.

 A tweet from Chris Harvey

Aberdeen board are meeting this afternoon. Following the interview I've just done with Dave Cormack, I'd guess they are preparing for change.

This could be the news we are all dreading.

Aye, I haven't slept for weeks. When will it end Leonard?!

I'd have thought a chap like Cornack would want to know that the manager is in place first before investing at present .

Did you write that post in all seriousness or is that a wind up?

As Spam says, we don't know if the money have gone into the club or just into the pockets of an existing shareholder - will be interesting to see.

As for the club preparing for change - I'm sceptical anything that dramatic is about to happen, can't quite see Cormack just rocking up and chucking the sort of money we'd need to make huge and rapid changes to the club. I'd expect any investment to be more steady and modest than that - much as others have done before.

Maybe he can bring in a few million to push the training facilities forward more urgently and change the planning approach to decouple the training facilities from the stadium - that would be a nice shot in the arm.

Doesn't help to have another wealthy shareholder involved at the club though - with Milne, Cormack and a few others involved the dream would maybe only need to pull 1 more seriously wealthy individual in and have them all investing and working together to really build the club up with a long term plan.

I'm sure these wealthy chaps would be much happier putting a few million into the club if they feel there are others sharing the burden and that together the sum they can invest can make a really significant difference.

Aye, if he had intentions of turning up and throwing money at the club then you'd think he would want Milne's job?

Maybe or maybe not.

Milne is Chairman I think? But not executive chairman so not running the club day to day as such.

Someone will correct me probably - i've no real knowledge of the clubs inner workings and some on here probably will.

For example at Celtic, the chairman is Ian Bankier I think, you don't see much of him really. Peter Lawell is Chief Exec. And Desmond, the major shareholder has no official position on the board but lets Lawell and Bankier see that what he wants happens.

He is still planning to live in the States, so wants to be a non-executive. He will attend every board meeting though. As for investment, it sounds as if it has been made to the club.

Hopefully this.

I suspect that this a new issue of shares, if he'd bought out an existing shareholder it would probably have been reported that way.
