Moving Supporters Buses

Recommended Posts

Our Club was informed that home supporters buses being moved from Linkfields road to Beach boulevard.

Emailed club SLO and knew nothing about this as a council decision. Strange the SLO knew nothing ??

We got to park on Linkfields road on Saturday but still up in air if we still have to move to beach boulevard (15 min walk over broadhill) Or 20 mins round road way, which you could not do against the arsecheeks.

Already had 4 people on our bus said will stop going on it as one has walking stick etc and cant walk that far.

I take it a lot of supporters clubs the same with people on their buses with disabilities etc that cant walk that far ?

No big deal really for the majority I suppose just a pain in the arse and less drinking time :hysterical: ..Oor bus usually drops us off right outside the bon accord  so its nice and easy.

How long the buses parked on Linksfield road for ? And why change it now ?

common sense on here no way ffs haha

Would be ok before game but after game could be a nightmare getting back to pick us up, and TBH he probably wouldn't want to do that as he goes to the games too.

As said no really a big deal for me but guys on the bus with disabilities and elderly can cause problems.

Just wondered why they are doing it ?

Surely could drop the elderly/disabled off then go to the Boulevard straight after and walk down with the rest. And after the game, go for a drink at the golf club, let the crowd die down then go get the bus and pick the elderly guys up.

It'll be even worse when we get the new stadium. It's a hoorin long walk from the Boulie to Kingsford.

no really viable as its already 2hr 15min journey don't think people would be too happy not leaving till later etc..

Ah who knows, doesn't really effect me like as I can walk, suppose its just change. And we all know we don't like that... :hypno:

Would like to know the reasoning behind it though.

The Portsoy bus is the same. It is a strange one but I can understand moving from current location as it takes a fucking hour to get out of the street we currently park on. What the dibble should do but would involve a little bit of effort is let all the buses leave at the same time rather than buses having to creep out the junction one at a time. Ridiculous trying to get out and back up to King Street.

Parking facing down towards the beach on Linksfield road is also daft. The buses should face South towards King Street when they arrive. That would be much easier to police to get the buses away all together.

Who informed your supporters club of the change? AFC or the council?

Aye kinda agree, takes a while to get oot.Police should be their to stop the traffic and let buses out as they do at most other stadiums.

They'll argue that to do so (put the buses away in convoy) is to disrupt the remaining traffic sitting on the main route north (hence the justification for the AWPR). But if they deliberately gave the buses priority would that not convince more to take the buses reducing car pressure overall? If you're sitting on the beach road just now creeping round to the BoD and the north and you see bus after bus get priority up the dualler you'll surely be tempted too, no? Even to a park and ride type situation at the old exhibition centre?

Must admit (years since I took a bus) I just assumed that they did actually do this anyway.

The SLO sent an email round saying no supporters club orders under 10 will be accepted, which is fine, though for central belt orders for Ross County away under 10 might be quite common.

But what is really daft about it is they instead want you to phone the ticket office, quote your supporters club name, then read out every name and client ref code.

Is it not quicker just reading it off an email like they did before? Especially when at busy times they're trying to get you to buy tickets on the website?

They've been doing the stuff in your second paragraph since last season at least.

Right, but they're just creating more work for themselves are they not? And it's also takes longer to phone up, listen to the voicemail telling you tickets are on sale for the game you're trying to buy tickets for, wait in the queue to be answered, explain what you're wanting, then read out each name and client ref code - then it does to send a quick e-mail.

I have long since suspected they are trying to get rid of Supporters clubs all together.
