Safe Standing

Recommended Posts

I've noticed Rangers fans currently have a petition going (well, they have several that range from the daft to the absurd), but one they do have is to pressure the club into installing rail seating in the Copland road lower deck.

Obviously Aberdeen are currently focused on trying to get the new stadium passed, but even if it gets the green light we'll still be at Pittodrie for at least another three years.

Would it be worth the club installing a small safe standing section at Pittodrie?

I think the RDS is the only stand that has the gradient for it. The lower deck everyone sits so the upper deck would be the likely place to put it. Could pick one section and see how popular it proves. If it proves popular then add more sections.

For the club to install it, it's about £80 per seat. If you picked the section in the RDU closest to the main stand, that's 285 seats, so £22,500. So not the biggest outlay of cash.

Or, if you said the back rows of the RDU would be standing but the front of the RDU remains seated, that's 1,794 seats, or £143,520. When you move into six-figure sums though it becomes expensive.

If it was standing up there would you move from your current seat?

Not worth the expense at this time.

Safe standing is on the agenda for the new ground though.

I'd like to see that happen.

Fuck standing for the 90mins when you'll have another 2hrs standing after the game waiting for 20 shuttle busses to deal with 8000 people.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It might actually be a good idea to trial it at Pittodrie now so they can learn any lessons needed before implementing in the new stadium.

However, I doubt there will be any push for it from the fans as they are focused on the new ground (whether negatively or positively)
