Ke1t
Got some old laptops and desktops I'm trying to breathe a little life back into, and I've been fucking around with various lightweight OS' to see which one is the fastest and most stable on older hardware. Leaning VERY heavily towards Chrome OS, though, since it has all manner of easy to install shite at the click of a button on the Chrome App store, and everyone likes Google/Chrome, right? Right now I think I'm using Lubuntu to post this, and it seems okay, but installing Chrome Browser was a fucking headache because my knowledge of whatever language Lubuntu uses is circa fuck all. Chrome is all mouse clicks, and since the people I'm doing this for are about as smart as Huns. Anyway, point being, I'm no fucking way downloading every iteration of Linux/Ubuntu and experimenting with them.... so I thought I'd ask some of the IT/Techie sorts on here what non-Windows, lightweight OS they favour, so I can focus on maybe half a dozen at most. before making up my mind... Because I'm a lazy cunt, really. Odds on I go with Chrome, though. Link to comment

Donnet
Never used Chrome OS and the browser is becoming shite but I'd never give a non-techie person any form of Linux. You'll forever be their support bitch. If avoiding Windows is only due to cost you can get round that stumbling block fairly easily. Link to comment

spamspamspam
I put Linux Mint onto the wife's laptop to save me buying a new OS. Piece of piss to install. Works perfectly, updates itself, has all the usual shite you need built in or easy to download/install. Pretty much works just like Apple OSX Link to comment
