Watched him play for Peterhead this season and has done really well! He's a good wee player.

Have any youth players we have released went on to do anything great?

 

Cammy Smith potentially the only one I can think of that would still be a decent squad player. Shankland for me is another one who could maybe have still come good.

 

Just thinking of others who made an appearance in the first team over the last few years.

 

Michael Rose - At Ayr Utd and not playing every week so no loss.

 

Kieran Gibbons - Our youth league winning captain is playing Lowland League football.

 

Jamie Masson - Is he in highland league at formartine or something.

 

Craig Storie - I believe has signed for Brechin but not kicked a ball yet.

 

Craig Murray - Made an appearance at right back and is now playing Lowland League.

 

Hallur Hansson - Plays Danish top division football for the team who are 10th.

For a while, yes. As far as I can tell none of these players we've released have gone on to do anything of note. Most of them don't even play the game at all anymore. We appear to have it bang on at the stage I'm afraid to say.

Chris Maguire has carved out a career for himself in the English lower leagues. Can't remember the circumstances of his departure - did we let him go or did he turn down a new deal?

Let his contract run down and he moved to Derby.

Joe Nuttall might be a shout. He seems to be making a name for himself in Blackburn's youth team but in fairness the 4 or 5 times I saw him for our U20s he didn't impress.

Aaron Norris is at Peterhead. He's played a few games this season and has impressed. played 10 games since joining in November though. Sure he's got at least one MOTM too.

It's a bit difficult "pushing for the first team" when half of them don't get given a chance.
