Think that was different because he wasn't actually punished at all during the match. The compliance officer at the time then cited him a few days later and offered a 2 match ban on what he saw on TV evidence. The club refused to accept it so went to a full hearing and he got given a 3 match ban instead

Aye. So he got an extra match ban as a result of appealing.

Nope

There was no fast track appeals in those days

He didn't appeal

He (well the club) refused the 2 match ban that was offered by the compliance officer...EDIT....so it went to a full hearing. NOT an appeal

Again....sheesh

Semantics. Refusing the 2 match ban was the equivalent to appealing it at the time as it went to a subsequent hearing at which they decided to increase the ban to 3 games.

Who was his other red card against?

I got that one wrong.....he got a straight red for serious foul play which is an automatic 2 match suspension.

Check out the SFA rules section 4  : Suspensions in Men's Football Paragraph 2.

Yeah but it WASN'T A FAST TRACK APPEAL CASE

Sheesh

Never said it was a fast track appeal. Was just highlighting another example where the powers that run Scottish football have ruled against us and banned one of our players. A far worse tackle by Jack in a game was not even referred to the compliance officer. I was just highlighting how the system continually works against clubs other than the two Glasgow teams.I cannot think of any occasion this season when a retrospective ban has been handed out to a player from those two clubs.

Shinnie didn’t have a problem in England with the referee’s. Probably just a coincidence he missed semifinals on more than one occasion in his previous stint at Aberdeen, surprisingly against the Glasgow mafia. Malky Mackay instigated  a retrospective red card for Clarke on Aberdeens last visit to Dingwall, wonder who he formally work for?

It’s not.

It’s the useless cunts the SFA have running it that’s the issue.

They can’t even get factual decisions right such as offside.

.....again proven on Friday night when Bojan Miovski's goal was wrongly chalked off.

Both his feet were onside but allegedly it was his fingernail, which he had forgotten to bite off pre-match, that was deemed to be offside.

As opposed to informally working for someone?

but aye, malky mackay is using his previous employment with the sfa to get folk banned. Does it all the time. Handy to get players banned after his team has played against them, as it really helps ross county out that way.
It's also how he managed to keep ross county in the top league. Called in favours. 🙃

Feet aren't the only marker used with off /onside

It was his arm that was offside.
You can’t score with your arm.
His head, chest, legs & feet were onside.

He was onside

Greg Aitken can’t work the VAR or doesn’t understand the laws….

Or is a cheat.

Just like a defender can't clear a ball with his arm, but his arm would be used to decide if someone was onside.

It really should be though.   That would make it alot easier to understand as the situation now is farcical.

But then you'd have the likes of westhill argue that their head was offside. And you can score with that

I don't think that's right? It's only parts of your body with which you can play the ball, is it not? For both defenders and attackers.

It's taken from the shoulder down isn't it?

The fact nobody really knows just sums up how poor the offside rule is at the moment. It's been made far too complicated. Should just be taken from the position of your feet regardless, that way there would be no controversies or debate about it. Football should be encouraging attacking play.

On another note, If VAR is to stay, I'd like to see officials given a limit on the time they can spend reviewing decisions on the monitor. If you can't make up your mind in say 20-30 seconds watching something on repeat, then it's not clear and obvious and the original decision should stand.

I don't know how you deal with the time it takes the muppets in the VAR booths to draw the offside lines on the pitch though. Surely can't be that difficult, but somehow they manage to make it look so.

Aye should be measured at the feet.

Goals getting chopped off for someone's left shoulder being half an inch ahead of a defender's foot is against the spirit of attacking football and giving the benefit of the doubt to the attacking player.

I’d like it if they changed the rule that offside only applies from 18 yard line to the goal line.

Interesting one. Would change the whole dynamics of a game. Would defenders defend more deep thus creating more space in midfield but  stifle the chance for pacy players to beat the offside trap ?
