Clydeside_Sheep
Anyone else seen this? We have lost a court case vs a drinks company. We were producing a whisky with (naturally) "Don" in the title, but this lot objected because they produce a Spanish sherry with "Don" in the title. Amazingly, they won, with the court saying it didn't matter that we have been "The Dons" since at least 1909. We have to pay £1,500 costs (a trifling amount). The copyright office claimed the "vast majority " of the public would not be aware of our nickname, which is crazy. However The Herald, little more than a Hun fanzine, construes its headline so give the impression we cannot call ourselves "The Dons" anymore. It explicitly states we are "no longer The Dons". Obviously a sop to the Orcs. Wankers. "Aberdeen FC lose copyright court case - no longer The Dons" An Aberdeen FC spokesman said: "We are surprised and disappointed by the ruling."We don't understand how the two products could be confused but we will accept the decision and move on." https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/17515256.aberdeen-fc-lose-copyright-court-case-no-longer-the-dons/ So they obviously don't intend to appeal, not wanting to pee money up the wall a la Dave King. strachanmcgheegoal
Out of interest, did they discuss what was said in court about Bolton Wanderers’ recent financial travails? When looking at options, specifically liquidation... "Recovery from this scenario would be along the lines of Glasgow Rangers, in that it would require a brand new club applying for registration to EFL." 3 Link to comment
Clydeside_Sheep
They have now changed the headline to: "Aberdeen FC lose court copyright case over whisky label" Which is more accurate. I can only presume the author, a "jody harrison" is a hun. Link to comment
