Dr_Manhattan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV6_E-FkBgs Back in the old BBC forum days, one poster was selling DVDs of practically every televised AFC goal of the early 90's. 90 mins or so of Jess, Booth, Nicholas, Gillhaus and Shearer. Actually, I'm away to look for it. 1 Link to comment
Cowie
Oh for a player of his quality now.Doubt we could develop a player like him now. Would guess Fraser is probably closest- but his interviews indicate it wasn't really till Bournemouth that he managed to kick on. Link to comment

Fridge
Only got into football from about 96, properly He didn't look like an arrogant guy, Never knew that but I like it What was up with his eye?He is down to earth in real life but on the pitch a joy to watch and was arrogant. That game in particular we were singing “Paul Gasgoine goes to the bar and gets fucking plastered, then he goes home and beats his wife, fat Geordie bastard” Taunting the Hun fucks was genius. Let the ball go through his legs and flicked it up behind on the touch line and did Keepy ups. Link to comment

Ten Caat
Remember that fat slob Gerry McNee giving the world his "I can exclusively reveal" news that Jess would be signing for oldco within "the next week" roundabout 91/92. (sure he did the same with Booth a couple of years later but maybe my mind is playing tricks on me). Guy was a class act, made us a nice profit and we got the best years of his career. Just think he was too small to make it in England hence why only Coventry took the chance but by all accounts he bombed there. Would have done better abroad.....I think a French club would have suited him down to the ground. Link to comment
OnceFaeMintlaw
my mum walked me down in the rain to take me but we were too late to get a ticket apparently.. Final was the first game I watched on TV, at my at the time, 90 year old Lithuanian, Celtic fan aunties house! I am sad I cant remember him the first time round and also sad there appears to be no real video of the keepie uppies Was there not a story that gascoigne told jess he was going to break his legs? Why the FUCK did he only end up at Coventry and Bradford and with less than 20 Scotland caps Is that not absolutely criminal? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD9jVvIKwvI Not the best quality (to say the least), but at around 2 minutes in, you'll see the keepie-ups. Betty Swallicks
Jess was absolute class. Him and Jess were a joy to watch. Eh? Class player. Bad decision (or advice) to join Coventry. No idea why one of the big English clubs didn't come in for him earlier. Ha! Jess and Hans. Link to comment
Ke1t
Think a couple of Italian clubs were interested, but if he'd gone there the Dons would have received fuck all by way of compensation. When Coventry came in with the bucks he moved to England in the knowledge Aberdeen would get the cash. Personally, I think that kind of attitude is what makes a club legend. Strachan, if I recall correctly, was somewhat pissed that Aberdeen resigned him for about a million less than we'd sold him for, so that was an added bonus to the saga. He may have mumbled some shite about tight-fisted Aberdonians to the media, but fuck that guy. I believe Jess was in the side, as was Booth, that was going to see Rangers (1872 - 2012) report Aberdeen to the authorities for planning to field a weakened side against Celtic just when the two were breaking into the first team. In keeping with neither of those players giving a flying fuck about 'big clubs' reputations, they played the Tims off the park because they were fearless and talented. That put paid to the Huns' plan to report Aberdeen, and that was another added bonus because we'd shut both cheeks fucking mouths in one fell swoop. Aberdeen used to be fearless against Celtic and Rangers, btw. 1 Link to comment

It may sound incredible now, to fans under 35 or so, but the teams we had between 1988-89 season and 1990-91, then in Willie Miller's first two seasons, would have given anyone in Britain a real game. That we fielded not only several Scottish, but a few Dutch internationals (when they were reigning European champions) and came within an inch of knocking a crack Italian side out of Europe in that time, seems inconceivable, yet we really were that good. 3 Link to comment
Dr_Manhattan
All true. Although the trophies may have dried up a little in the late 80's, we were still a formidable side. If Heysel had never happened and we hadn't ended up competing with half the England team, who knows what might have happened. Link to comment

King Street Loon
I saw Jess in my first ever Aberdeen game, old man took me. 4-2 loss against the now deceased rangers. He scored an indirect free kick in the box from an Andy Dow lay off. Was a bit before my time but he was always described as a touch of class by everyone I’ve spoken to. The starting 11 for that game was Leighton, Smith, Inglis, Perry, Whyte, Winters, Jess, Mayer, Young, Kiriakov, Newell.Jess deserved better than that. 1 Link to comment
