Thank god this seasons over

Recommended Posts

For me one of the worst seasons supporting the dons , initially looked like playing reasonable football raised expectations and that is what as ever kills me

then well a combination of factors  from stale management , injuries , and from what I can see general apathy and disinterest and downright poor form  especially from players that were supposed to inspire and drive the team forward

I will look forward,as,always with hope and enthusiasm for the season ahead

sad I know but

Are you too young to remember relegation playoffs? Finishing bottom? QOTS? McGhee? Pele? Stenhousmuir? This season is nowhere near.

Nowhere near? Sorry but the form of this team this season since December has been nothing short of a disgrace. Throw in the fact we have been in total lockdown since October, pulling my hair out every fucking Saturday for about 14 weeks scoring about 3 goals and 1 win in the process is right up there with the shite you have mentioned above. I would say it has been right up there with the worst seasons to endure.

The team was worse but I enjoyed watching the football a lot more than I have this season. This has been the most boring season I can ever remember

It has been a shit season mainly due to not getting a few pints before watching the dross produced by this poor team. When Watkins got injured the team went downhill big style. Mcinnes was rightly sacked as he was getting nothing out of the poor squad he assembled. Big job ahead in the summer for the new manager who has only been here 4 weeks, can see around 10 new players being here for the start of next season and hopefully they can do better that this seasons mob

We just got pumped in Glasgow, and our season has only been over for a few hours. I get that it was disappointing, but in a couple of years when we're talking about the worst seasons, this one won't even get a mention. It's been forgettable.

Fair enough on the lockdown point though, I was meaning performances.

Qots?

You think this season is better than the season we played dnipro, atletico, panathinaikos, lokomotiv, copenhagen & Bayern Munich?

We also finished 4th that season and reached 2 semis, so also had a better domestic campaign ?

07/08 wasn’t ideal but my god it certainly wasn’t boring. This season has been the most boring I’ve ever seen. I’ve gone from not watching games to barely even watching the highlights

Boring is the right word. We’ve finished 4th in the league and our cup defeats weren’t QOS esq, so clearly it wasn’t the worst season of all time results wise. Performance wise though it’s probably up there. Absolutely mind numbing at times.

The second half of the season has been as poor a spell as I can remember. Down there with the end of McGhee's reign and the Aitken end days.

Everything just fell off a cliff and dismantled really quickly before Xmas and we've never looked like turning it around.

Same for every team though dad.

Nae sure how much cheering there would have been up in Dingwall when the 4th goal went in.

Or at the end of half the games this season when we'd failed to score yet again.

I don't think these players can use covid as an excuse for 6 months of complete pish.

In what way has covid been a factor?

If you think, footballers have extended families too who might be hugely effected by covid, contracting it, laid off etc. It’s not just playing it’s all psychological and even with the players normal training, match day, even getting to the empty stadium it’s all different! It has effected Everything

Season when we got humped 9-0 by Tims tops it for me, followed by the one when we got beat by QOS.

I have suffered worse seasons than this one but agree that no fans in stadia due to COVID huge effect.

Unfortunately our performances have been on downward spiral since 2017 cup final and nothing has been done to address until DM's sacking.

I hope that there is improvement next season but am not convinced.

Folk being happy with our second half performance yesterday should still read the final score. 4-0 is not good enough, whoever the manager is.

DC has to seriously financially back SG otherwise next season could be a very hard watch.

It's been the same for just about every player at every club in world football.

Therefore it's not a valid excuse.

Why have other teams not been affected as much as us by there no being no fans in the stadia?

This is a lame excuse.

There are plenty reasons why our season hasn't panned out the way it should have but using covid as a major factor is not a valid one.

Exactly. If I remember correctly, we had at least 8 players missing for the very first league game of the season down in Perth due to enforced coronavirus rules and still won.

Very poor recruitment, extremely limited management, and little or no leadership and responsibility being shown on the pitch have been the main reasons for our very average performance this season.

There's been worse seasons, but fewer as boring. I've found myself watching other games rather than tuning in to Aberdeen. And I had no intention whatsoever of watching the inevitable disaster yesterday.

Even some of the worse seasons I could watch through my fingers and appreciate some gallows type humour: Not being able to text fast enough when my mate asked me to keep him updated on the 9-0 game; Comically bad defending in the QOTS game; The weird complete lack of surprise by everyone at the Queens Park defeat; The two fuds behind me in the South Stand who decided Andy Dow was the source of all our problems when we didn't score for two months, then changing their tune completely when his free-kick went in (and the fact everyone left that defeat as if we'd just qualified for Europe just because we'd managed a single goal)...

Saying all that, considering we started the season questioning whether it would even be completed, I'm happy to write it off and forget about it.

Because otherwise I would have been to all the homes games and a number of the away ones.

watching at home on the Mac is dead boring. The football is a factor of course, but not as bad (in my opinion) as not being able to be in the ground.

I didn’t even try to watch Saturdays game and missed the Livi game too, because I’m fucking bored of watching it on the Mac.

I hope to god we get back in for August and not impacted by the zombies and their stupidity yesterday.

Ah, I thought you were saying covid was a major factor in our shite season like some others.

Apologies min

McInnes would never have lasted as long as he did if there had been crowds getting on his back.

Who knows if Glass could have got us a couple more points with an extra 4-5 games.

Edit - just seen your post above. Apologies also.

Last few seasons I've lost all enjoyment watching the Dons.  I just log onto RedTV now so I can justify my moaning.  It's been an absolute chore watching this team regress over the past couple of years.

At the moment I just want to see this decline arrested and a few green shoots of recovery appearing...
