Guest milne_afc
I like to do my bit for climate change. Instead of filling the basin for a shave, I like to leave the hot tap running for the duration of the task - gives the razor a better clean. Recently started using hot water for teeth brushing, again running the tap for duration. With foreign holidays becoming more expensive and less frequent we should all do our bit to make ‘holidaying at home’ more appealing. Link to comment

Fridge
I had a a flat once , never had to pay a factoring fee and the stairwell lights were always on 24/7 So fuck knows who was paying for that Link to comment
Zeus
^factoring fees. Good pet hate. I'm going to stop leaving the car running for 15 minutes in winter to defrost the car windows this year. Do my bit. Link to comment

BrianFaePerth
Eh fill my pool with room temperature tap water, and let the solar panels warm it up. No hot water tap for me, that would make Greta upset. Obviously we should be conserving water, but my filter will crap out if the level gets too low, so you see my dilemma Link to comment

The Boofon
26 minutes ago, maryhilldon said: ? Water isn't wet? Incredible thing to say. Wetness is the ability of a liquid to adhere to the surface of a solid, so when we say that something is wet, we mean that the liquid is sticking to the surface of a material. Whether an object is wet or dry depends on a balance between cohesive and adhesive forces. Cohesive forces are attractive forces within the liquid that cause the molecules in the liquid to prefer to stick together. Cohesive forces are also responsible for surface tension. If the cohesive forces are very strong, then the liquid molecules really like to stay close together and they won't spread out on the surface of an object very much. On the contrary, adhesive forces are the attractive forces between the liquid and the surface of the material. If the adhesive forces are strong, then the liquid will try and spread out onto the surface as much as possible. So how wet a surface is depends on the balance between these two forces. If the adhesive forces (liquid-solid) are bigger than the cohesive forces (liquid-liquid), we say the material becomes wet, and the liquid tends to spread out to maximize contact with the surface. On the other hand, if the adhesive forces (liquid-solid) are smaller than the cohesive forces (liquid-liquid), we say the material is dry, and the liquid tends to bead-up into a spherical drop and tries to minimize the contact with the surface. Summary: Wetness isn't a property of a liquid, it is a property of an interface. Thus, water alone cannot be wet. However water has a propensity to wet things. It generally has liquid-liquid interactions that are weaker than a lot of solid-liquid interactions which allow it to wet a lot of surfaces. However, there are several surfaces that won't be wetted by water. Link to comment

That one doesn’t work, how could they use electricity? You would have to state they had some sort of function a normal solar panel never had. Link to comment

The joke was that people were using energy to do things inefficiently or pointlessly. A solar panel can’t consume energy unless it has been modified. Hans uses energy to make the blades to turn. Your solar panel can’t shoot solar rays back into the atmosphere, therefore it has no means of consuming energy. Its ok you’re a retard we get it. 2 Link to comment
