Or it's the best term to describe something that's never happened before.

It's almost as if news channels use words that best describe an occasion. Who'd have thought it.

unprecedented means without precedent.  a legal reference

Previous examples, all recent:

"Yemen's Houthi Rebels Launch Unprecedented Missile Attack on Israel"

"US and UK strike Houthi sites in Yemen in response to ‘unprecedented’ attacks"

"Hamas Launches Unprecedented Surprise Attack On Israel"

"Inside Ukraine's wrecked power plants amid unprecedented Russian attacks"

Find me a headline that describes any US/UK/Israeli/Ukranian/NATO attacks as unprecedented

The Israelis watching the fences etc knew something was up, those in power chose to ignore it, they knew fine what was going to happen.

Not sure about that. They defo saw it but they didn’t think Hamas would do it for a variety of reasons. And that’s probably a function of arrogance and their current government, which seems blinded by right wing dogma, into thinking they are gods chosen ones. Either way, a massive intelligence failure borne out of incompetence. I think there is zero chance they would have let it happen if they knew it was going to happen.

Fan fiction … was once mainly a fringe pursuit. Now, it's changing the world of fiction, as Internet exposure helps unknown authors find mainstream success. Some Web sites are attracting unprecedented numbers of readers and, in some cases, leading to book deals.—John Jurgensen, Wall Street Journal, 16–17 Sept. 2006

Shocking as it is, more than a month after the hurricane hit, New Orleans is still, for all practical purposes, a ghost town. The entire population has left—an unprecedented situation in modern times in any major city anywhere.—Tom Piazza, Why New Orleans Matters, 2005

Suffice to say Britain should be staying out of this escalating circus. It doesn't have the cash, the military, or the political power to get itself entangled with Iran, Israel, and the US.

State of the British military it couldn't knock down a fruit stand at a Nigerian market.

To be fair none of us have a fucking clue what's actually going on there. What you think is essentially meaningless.

Would definitely smarten up Teesside.

Back in the day the Ukrainians had a bunch of Soviet nuclear (and nuclear capable) missiles they were having dismantled to ensure Russia never attacked them, but given the mess of Russia and Ukraine at the time their inventory system was not the best.

During that time a bunch of Soviet nuclear (and nuclear capable) missiles went missing, and since there was no accountability at the time they kinda shrugged and went, "Och weell, it's not like nuclear (and nuclear capable) missiles are dangerous or anything, so let's just not say anything about it."

But what definitely did happen, as a matter of record (surprisingly), was Ukraine sold a bunch of nuclear capable missiles, AS-15's, to Iran. These are medium range ballistic missiles with a maximum range of 2500 miles. What is a head scracher, though is whether or not these missiles, about a dozen of them, still had nuclear warheads strapped to them.  No-one seems to know. If they do, they have 200kt warheads, and Tel Aviv is easily within range.

Fire a couple of those and have them arrive at the same time as a couple of hundred drones and Allahu Akbar, Bob's your uncle,  mair like Tel Avivederci.

(You won't reach Teeside from Iran with these missiles)

You don’t have to be sure about it, it’s facts.

There’s a BBC podcast detailing the accounts of the young women doing their national service at watch posts. How they reported all this unusual activity. Fence cutting, groups training etc etc.

Did those in power ignore this, yes.

i think they didnt believe hamas would go ahead with it. there had been "stability" as far as the israelis were concerned for years. they had, in their own minds, successfully bought off hamas and the international community had largely moved on.

the entire (almost) selling point of quasi fascist religious nutjobs is they bring security, the strongman theory of politics. unfortunately, for them, those types of regimes tend to miss signals cos the incentives for those who share the power, such as the military or government ministers, is to not question the assumption their leadership is bringing security. so when you get underlings bringing reports of hamas fighters training for an assault these regimes tend to dismiss that. and thats assuming the reports ever get to the decision makers.

Israel's perpetrating genocide via starvation and military action against women and children. The world is turning against Israel in a way we've never seen before, and Israel does what it does best... tries to garner sympathy, and change the narrative, by playing the victim.

So, they  bomb the Iranian embassy in Syria knowing Iran will retaliate, and knowing US media will cover that for 5 seconds, if at all.

Iran retaliates, as any self-respecting nation will when attacked, and the US media literally covers it on a minute by minute basis. This sets up the front page narrative that Israel is the victim of the big bad Muslims, and puts the mass murder of Palestinians by the Israelis somewhere around page 15, next to the crossword and the cartoons.

this is correct.

id add the US media seems to be under the misapprehension that israel, as a state that was attacked, isnt under any obligation to follow international rules. yes, they were brutally attacked, but they are subject to rules that hamas, as a terrorist organization isnt. it drives me nuts when they "forget" this. yes, israel can "defend itself", no they cant just do whatever they want. and it hurts US foreign policy and world standing to be their international lawyer.

She is clearly Islamophobic, but this is never called out for some reason?

If she cosplayed being any other religion than a Jew, she would have been sacked from C4 years ago.
