We're closer to Hearts in 3rd than we are to the relegation play-off spot currently.

Its a fair enough point I guess. The 50th anniversary would seem like the more natural point to celebrate it but by then even Black would be only a few months short of his 70th birthday and most would be in their mid to late 70s.

You’d hope McGhee and Strachan put personal issues with AFC to one side and turn up for this.

Both came to the Neale Cooper memorial event in the RDS a few years back, in fact the only Gothenburg Greats who didn’t were Rougvie and Leighton.

And then Strachan was at the Fergie statue unveiling this time last year.

I was in his company in corporate a few years ago, good company, was quite open about his fall out with Fergie and was more interested in talking about golf.

Jim Leighton is just a very quiet man and like most goalkeepers probably a natural loner.He took his goalkeeper coach role at Aberdeen very seriously, diligently and enthusiastically,would sit in the stand at Balmoor reserve games, the same end as his goalkeeping protégés and watched the matches avidly,and these young goalkeepers would have learned a lot from him.Sweden 1-0 at Ibrox finest hour..Great goalkeeper.
