Ultras Aberdeen

Is there anyone associated with the 'Red Ultras' (if they're still called this) on this chat or do they tend to communicate on a different website? Just interested in how they coordinate things etc.

Saturday was a bit weird. They started a decent noise for 15 mins, then were pretty much silent for the next 15. Ultimately, it comes down to the boy with the drum, as if he's not leading, there tends to be no singing.

Was also interested in who makes up the songs... we seem to sing 4 of the same ones over and over.

No slight on these guys - putting an atmosohere into the stadium that has largely been missing for decades. Just wanted to know a bitty more and who was involved etc.

Going back to the fitba this season after many years away it was good to hear some different songs.

Nae idea who came up with them, but they’re a change from In your Glasgow Slums etc.

Agreed. I just can't seem to get into the swing of them though. Country Roads one in particular. Many seem to be songs that are heard right across the UK and tweaked to suit the individual club.
Was good to hear a rendition of 'Here We Go' which was odd considering the average age of the folk in the Red Shed ultras area, must be about 16.

Feel if there was more songs that resonated with the rest of the stadium, it would help to get others engaged. There seems to be a chunk of the South Stand next to the away support, who would really augment the Red Shed but suspect they prefer the view from where they are (and the bants when exchanging viewpoints with the opposition).

From what i’ve seen on twitter the folk in Ultras Aberdeen are quite pissed off at the club officials.

The club removed the rail for banners at the front and blocked off the first 6 or so rows for no reason and gave 0 explanation for it.

The security are an embarrassment in there as well, when the boy let off the pyro for his personal tribute during a minutes applause he was chased out the stadium by the security for just simply holding it. Yet Rangers and Celtic do it every week with 20x the amount of flares and nothing is done.

The Merkland isn’t really fit for purpose either, Cormack said himself that they can’t install safe standing due to the concrete terracing not being safe or stable enough. The seats in there are also made of cheese

Aye fuck knows what’s happening with the animosity from police/the club towards the fans making an atmosphere in the merkland. That banner at the front blocking off the front few rows seemed to kill things on Saturday. No one ever gets hurt, just boys trying to make an atmosphere.

Club had people moving banners and shit before the game, despite there being an agreement in place about it.

The club gets a pat on the back for it but really it's fuck all to do with them. These guys put in a lot of time and effort and endeavour, and the club and those who seek to justify their jobs, try and trip them up at every hurdle.

Exactly, wonder who at the club is the main culprit for this, Gunn?

Red ultras nothing to do with ultras aberdeen. Two entirely separate groups

The jobsworth stewards are going to kill any atmosphere at the ground. The club need to tell them to wind their necks in

Word was they weren't leading things on Saturday due to the removal of the banners after over exuberance the previous game. Some people at the club seem insistent on bringing everything down every time there's been a game with a great atmosphere.

The club wants the atmosphere. The problem is that the pyros are illegal and there are seats getting broken every home game.

Stop costing the club money and they may get more support.

Alternatively the club (who use pictures of the pyros) could lead the way to bring change to the Scottish game by following the French and going with save use of smoke/pyro.

How does it cost the club money? They've never once been fined and the stadium and seats are crumbling already yet we as fans are supposed to accept it.

Trumpets like you taking the side of jobsworths and stewards are as bad as them.

They're not doing anything different to when we were kids going to games.

The club specifically targeted that area to make it attractive to the young team with the Biffa Bacon artwork and the pricing policy so they've got to expect a wee bit of high spirits.

They're lucky folk bought into it as its the worst place in the ground to watch the actual football itself. Took my lad there when it was the family stand and you couldn't see a fucking thing from halfway downwards.

Exactly. Club are now betraying the lads who have made it what it is, spineless from Cormack to allow it.

I wouldn’t think it would be him.

Paul Hendry is the stadium manager so i’d guess it’s him that’s causing the problem. Although he won’t be the only culprit

If it does turn out he’s smashing up seats and setting off illegal fireworks within enclosed spaces, he’s maybe not the right person to be stadium manager.
