What goal gives you goosebumps when you see it again?

Recommended Posts

For Aberdeen it's probably Josh Walker against Bayern. The utter disbelief that it was really happening is something I'll never forget. Great times.

For Scotland it's the Caldwell goal v France, my first ever Scotland match and I got to see my hero Thierry Henry play. But another one where the pandemonium was just fucking wild.

Outwith teams I actively support that Messi goal v Bayern in the CL was sensational. I recall watching it at some pals' flat and everyone standing up, hands on head and covering their mouths at what we'd just seen.

Anyway, what are your favourite goal memories? I'm sure some of you older chaps have a great selection of Dons related ones to pull from.

Bit gay but the Maddison free kick in the first game v the Huns is a welcome watch when it appears on here - last minute against der Hun. Then a mental afternoon in town, missed work the next day. Mind phoning work from a downstairs bathroom in garthdee on ketamine, was a bloody gr8 night that. Bloody gr8.

Hayes goal v Forster was good aswell - about 71 clean sheets then hud at.

lastly, I’m sure a willo flood screamer against hibs won us all a pile of money which big @ebbe then took next door to Bill Hill and stuck it all on a dog who came last. Think he ordered 60+ jäger bombs or something that night aswell

edit, some details in that last one are sketchy, may be confusing two nights v hibs

Van persie header for Netherlands v Spain in 2014. Spain were world and double euro champions, playing their opening game. Everyone likes the Netherlands, but they were 1-0 down due to an unjust penalty.

The pass is perfect, and there's something unworldly about how long the ball hangs in the air. The leap from the edge of the box and the loop over the keeper is delightful every time I watch it.

From there justice was done, the floodgates opened and Spain were lucky to only concede five. So so enjoyable at the time, and still enjoyable today.

An underrated goal and bounce.  Wonderful stuff to be there that night.

The feeling that it could finally be us to win a trophy for a change, that and the semi final v St Johnstone were a couple of my favourite games in recent times.

Loved seeing Rooney race clear at goal and being confident he would stick it away, the first time in years after Mackie & co.

Tynecastle that day was incredible.  A wonderful day out.

This celebration tho.

Yes, that goal is amazing. Gaetano Scirea who makes the run from defence to the box backheels it, gets it back and lays it off is pure class, he was an amazing player, sweeper/libero. Tragically, he died in a car crash in Poland in 1989, scouting a player. Juventus legend. One of the coolest-headed players of all time, unbelievably skilful for a defender from that era. He won every cup you can, except the Euros, Italy came third in 1980. I think he's one of only four players to have won all those cups. Rest in peace.

So we were all just sitting there going, "oh  well, 1-0 Germany, these cunts never give up a lead," then the Football Gods went, "oh fuck this!"

Stoichkov scores a brilliant freekick, then Yordan Letchkov not only brings glory to Bulgaria, but to the much-mocked Bald Community around the world, bring an end to the crass, "Oi, SLAPHEAD!" and ushering in the age of, "Bald is Beautiful".
