Managers which were not sacked

Anyone in the group know who our last manager was that got another job whilst being an Aberdeen manager? Was it Fergie leaving us or was there another manager between now and then which was hired by a “bigger” club.

Jocky Scott was the last to leave us for another club. Albeit not a bigger one. Scott aside, post Fergie only Porterfield, Skovdahl (both resigned) and Brown (retired) haven't been axed.

Brook is a good shout.  Steadied the ship as a kind of retirement contractor role.

Calderwood had his "shelf life" comments and was rumoured to interest other clubs during his tenure but nothing concrete emerged. 

McInnes is the only one I can remember apparently having genuine interest/offers from other clubs (Sunderland and Sevco) but ne turned them down because those moves  were not concomitant with his ambitions.

Aye Jocky Scott was wanted by Dunfermline.

And ironically Scott has said he shouldn't have gone  he should have stayed with us,

Porterfield according to the Brian Cooney book was supposed to stay and work under Alex Smith who was coming in a director of football role originally, but in the end Porterfield left, officially on his own accord.

Quite a depressing thread really. Shows how poor our choices of manager have been for the last 30 odd years.

Aye this was the reason I posted it. We haven’t had much of an infrastructure in place to set managers up for success.

Not at all. It confirms that there's not much beyond the heady heights of managing Aberdeen. Realistically this is the biggest job in their career.

Also, if things had gone only a tiny bit differently, McGhee would have gone on to manage Liverpool. Y'know.

Aye, allegedly on first name terms with moat of the ladies of the night around the harbour area, and he was  encouraged to move on before that decision was made for him. Allegedly.

I'm pretty sure Porterfield was into that too.. probably others, harbour hookers must have been quite convenient after a day's work at a Pittodrie. I presume nobody else got caught at it. 

The move out to Cormack Park must have reduced that likelihood nowaday, doubt there are many hookers hanging around the Arnhall Business Park or Westhill shopping centre. It's all online nowadays, so I've heard anyway...

I wouldn't be so sure , my wife witnessed a guy fingering a quine in Costco one day, and my pal was rubbed against by another female customer in Costco too.
