One of the greatest ever to play for Aberdeen.

Huge part of us winning that European trophies.

I did go off him when he had that coffee shop dinner place down at the beach went bankrupt.

The staff mostly working mums relied on their weekly wages from him .

They turned up for work as per to chained doors. That was the first they knew there was any problem.

Heard they didn't get paid what a shame.

Defo needs a statue in the city at some stage. Proper ledge. Fergie gets most of the credit for the 80s success but without Miller we wouldn't have achieved all that. He wouldve walked into any team in the world at his peak.

Was there ever any proper rumours of him leaving?

Think ( could be wrong) that Sunderland poked their noses in for him.
In this day and age we would not have not managed to keep any of that squad, wouldn’t even play together. Home grown players transferred before they hit the first team ( Miller, McLeish, Leighton etc) . Fergie was on more money at Pittodrie than he was offered from Man U. Wages more equal then. Level playing field and all that.
Guess Miller didn’t see the need to move away. Good money, great team mates, winning trophies, what’s not to like.

I remember in the mid 70’s on a wet Wednesday night, he made a very rare mistake at the back allowing Dundee to run up the field and score.

Fans were singing “Miller, Miller get to fuck”.

Think there was a wee spell just after where there was some doubt as to whether or not God would stay.

Thank fuck he did

Yes the great man was linked to Sunderland told them to fuck off. Got out of the car the day of park red in Glasgow thought it was Willie approaching me it was his brother and wished us all the best. Spitting image. Willie was a regular at Jocks bar. A boyhood hero of mine only  second to king Joey tho.

Pretty sure you’re thinking of the Scottish Cup tie in 1977.  My recollection is hazy but I think Willie was either short with a pass back or got caught in possession just outside our box and Dundee scored what turned out to be the winner.  I can mind him getting dogs abuse fae the crowd for the rest of the game and Willie eventually reacting to the Beach End by doing an exaggerated ‘I’m-not-worthy’ bow.  Which didn’t go down well !

Was that not the game about the betting scandal? It was a replay I think. Gordon Strachan played for Dundee that night. I was there but my recollection is hazy as well.

Eh?

Brown stayed at Celtic and didn't go down south and plenty on here ripped him for it saying he had no ambition or he was in his comfort zone

Perfectly fair question to ask

Hibs Scott Brown?

Same here…..near the front in the Beach End.  Much bigger than usual crowd , so even more of a sickener.

The difference being that Miller didn't need to go out of Scotland to compete at the top, Scotland was playing at World Cups and Aberdeen were playing at the business end of European competition.

Brown was happy to play the odd  Champions League group game and act the hard man against the likes of Livvy and Hamilton whilst picking up a huge wage.

Willie captained his team to a European trophy beating Real Madrid, while playing in a competitive league on a relatively level playing field (financially) whose teams were also strong in Europe. Brown captained a team with a budget 10x the rest and rarely had to break sweat to pick up 3 points every week.

PS- he was/is also a total cunt, so please refrain from making any comparisons to God in the future.

If you genuinely have to ask that question then you expose yourself as as a clueless, big chinned, half Lithuanian spastic.

Just dawned on me the great man doesn’t have his own thread

Gets a fair bit of shit on social media these days for not being a fucking happy clapper

The man loves the club and I will happily fist fight anyone who ever speaks about him in disparaging terms

Willie is Aberdeen and anyone that thinks otherwise can fuck off :trophy:

100% correct. An utter legend. Best defender this shitty little country has ever produced.

nobody reads or read a game like God. A true legend and a brilliant footballer and leader. He is Aberdeen❤️

deserves a statue too.
