Squad trimming

Recommended Posts

I’m hopeful we’ll bring a couple more in before the window closes- CF and RW at least.

If that happens who would you trim from the squad?

There’s a handful of players I don’t think we would really miss from the squad:

Richardson

McGarry

Gueye

Duncan

Seems obvious to loan out one of Bavidge or Ambrose as well.

Jimmy seems pretty methodical so unless we have 3 players for a position they'll probably stay.

At the moment I think Richardson will be paid off for definite, Duncan will go on loan and I think we might offload Gueye to Norway on a permanent.  Jensen or McGarry might go out if we sign another centre back and Bavidge might go on loan if we sign another striker.

Other than that I think the rest will stay til at least the next window.

Would be unlike us to loan out Ambrose so I think we'll give him until January.

If we can nail a #9 signing that is good enough to start every game then we'll be well placed to sell/loan Gueye or loan Bavidge.

Both if we are feeling brave and everyone is fit at the deadline.

Star striker, Sokler and Ambrose could be ok for us Sep-Jan

Loan out: Gueye, Ambrose

(Fwds: Sokler, Bavidge, +1)

Loan out: Morris

(RW: Vinnie, +1)

(LB: Jensen back up to Jack)

(RB: Devlin, +1 who can also play CB)

Farewells: Richardson, Duncan, McGarry

Isn't that Milne?

I think McGarry gets a stay of execution. Could do with doing something though

it is, but is he good enough?

Well that's still to be proven but if we sign another that plays his exact position then he's no chance of ever showing he is good enough.

Id not be wasting a portion of our existing budget on a replacement just yet. If we're signing a RB I'd hope it'd be a guy to take over from Devlin. I think devlin is fine though and would be one of the last I'd be replacing tbh.

There’s a difference from reality & ideal world when players are contracted

Realistically I could see a loan for Bavidge, IF we bring in a good new no9.
I’d actually give game time to Bavidge ahead of Ambrose

Duncan - loan

I don’t think there will be much more going out.

McGarry is terrible but he’s back up at left back. He’s not going anywhere.

Jensen might be vulnerable if another centre half comes in.

Unless you are Jayden Richardson or Alfie Bavidge and maybe Richard Jensen you can't say you haven't had an opportunity to impress.

I think Jimmy has been more than fair with our existing squad, partly through necessity of course but nevertheless he's given most of them a few chances to play.

If anyone goes out now it's because they haven't taken the opportunity. They can have little to complain about.

I think he’s gone out of his way to give game time to a couple of players he was undecided on but I’m hoping he sees what we do and they are moved on (McGarry, Gueye)

We’re not going to get rid of McGarry, he’s backup left back. Jensen and Richardson are your stick ons for being let go before end of window.

I'd be keeping Jensen over McGarry 100%. I've been hoping Thelin has been thinking this too and he's been giving McGarry game time to try and prove him wrong.
