The Proclaimer
Man United: Edwin van der Sar; John O'Shea, Wes Brown, Gabriel Heinze, Patrice Evra; Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes; Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs Not sure how Fergie's gonna line them up, but my guess would be:- ------------------Van Der Sar ------O'Shea Brown Heinze Evra --------Fletcher Carrick Scholes --------- Ronaldo Giggs --------------------Rooney Rooney and Giggs may swap though, as Fergie seems to like playing Rooney wide left in Europe AC Milan: Dida; Massimo Oddo, Alessandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini, Marek Jankulovski; Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Massimo Ambrosini, Clarence Seedorf; Kaka; Alberto Gilardino Link to comment

Jaws
Can't stand Gilardino. He's a diving, cheating prick. Not even that good a player. Did anyone see him throw himself to the ground when Heinze was behind him? Minimal contact. Link to comment
minijc
United were lucky but couldna say it wasna coming, the goal from rooney was amazing and i hope he continues this form that he's finding again. ALSO AC millan must be pish they couldna score more past the 2nd string defense!! JOKE Link to comment
The Proclaimer
Aye seen the replay and never realised it cracked off of his face haha. His face? He pushed it in with his hand, but as Ronaldo's header was goalward bound, it's credited to him. Nice to see the best player in the world score a couple tonite Rooney? He's a brilliant player, but would say Ronaldo is the best in the World right now. United were lucky but couldna say it wasna coming, the goal from rooney was amazing and i hope he continues this form that he's finding again. Lucky? What game were you watching? United had a lot of good chances, namely Carrick's at the corner, and Dida pulled off a couple of cracking saves from Fletcher and Ronaldo shots. ALSO AC millan must be pish they couldna score more past the 2nd string defense!! JOKE There were still 4 international players there (O'Shea/Heinze/Evra/Brown), and after the first half, they settled in and played pretty well. United WILL score in Milan. They've got momentum on their side now, and can look to the 2nd leg with confidence. Milan have to score, so need to open up, which will suit United on the counter-attack, considering they're probably the best counter-attacking team in the world right now. I'll be honest and say that Gattuso going off was a huge loss for Milan though. Brilliant, brilliant player. Fletcher, again, was outstanding though. Link to comment
minijc
Watch the first goal again, as ronaldo headers it it takes a deflection upwards then dida scrambles and pushes it in. Link to comment

10MenWent2Mow
Man Utd were very good and I think it's the first time that I have actively cheered them on. My views on Milan and their cheating have been made clear elsewhere over the past few weeks and I'm glad that Utd beat them today. Darren Fletcher was absolutely immense for Man Utd today, looked like the complete midfield player, his performance had everything apart from a goal (which he was damned close to getting as well). The thing I've always said about Fletcher is that he should play for Man Utd like he plays for Scotland, when he believes that he's the best player on the park and constantly looks for the ball, sometimes I think he has the tendancy to hide in Man Utd games but he definitley didn't do that today. Looking forward to the 2nd leg as well, much more than I'm looking forward to the Chelsea vs Liverpool game, I just can't see it being a very good game. Link to comment

His tackling/tenacity against Gattuso was great to watch. His energy and ability to get up and down the pitch was prevalent again last night, and I thought his range of passing was fantastic - an often overlooked aspect of his game - and as you said, he very nearly scored but for a cracking save from Dida. Classy player, who stood out again last night. Delighted for the lad! Link to comment
OddJob
Yeah Fletcher was brilliant last night. This might finally be him hitting the top form that Fergie is talking about. Thought Scholes and Carrick were also fantastic in the 2nd half, but i suppose like others said that was more down to Gattuso going off. Link to comment
