Scotland-South Africa

This game is now confirmed on the SFA website.

The Scottish FA is delighted to confirm that Scotland will play South Africa at Pittodrie Stadium in Aberdeen on Wednesday, 22 August 2007.

The attractive fixture will give Scotland manager Alex McLeish a chance to prepare his team for the final run-in to the Euro 2008 qualifiers with a challenge at the stadium where he made his name as a player. There is also an agreement for Scotland to play a return match against the South Africans at some time in the build-up to the 2010 World Cup.

Scotland matches at Pittodrie have always drawn big crowds, and as this is the first international at the stadium since April 2002 there is bound to be a high demand for seats. Priority for tickets will go to members of the Scotland Supporters Club, who will shortly be able to apply for tickets to the match.

The Tennent's A International against South Africa will kick off at 8.00 pm, and ticket prices will be announced soon

Just need to convince boss that its alright for me to p*ss off early on first day back after a week off now.

To be honest i never go and watch scotland to be honest. As much i am backing the team, i am not a big fan of the tartan army. Although dont get me wrong i am just as passionate as those at the game its just not for me. It seems all they want to do is get pished. I mean whats good about 40/50 year old men walking bout pished out their faces, wearing kilts and singing Doh-a-deer? Especially away from home it must look awful even if they are well behaved. I dont know maybe the lack of dons players playing slighty deters me too i dont know. I might change my opinion after i have been to another scotland game, been a few years since the last time mind! who knows? But for just now i, for one am happy to go to the pub and watch it with my pals.

It may seem i am being against Scotland here but im not, just dont like the fans!

Tartan Army? Thoughts?

I have a few friends with the same opinion as you so i know where youre coming from.

The thing is we all agree how bad the hun support are (One spat in my daughters face when she was 4 in market street in front of Grampians finest who did nothing but say you should not dress her in red on match day [by the way it was pink])

so why should we even associate them, BUT! i am in the support Scotland at tiddlwinks bigrade and if we want to get big games up north we need a full house and atmosphere.

It may also give McJudas an oppurtunity to pick some Dandies for the game - Seve, Smith & Jackie Mac. instead of the normal Anglo Old Firm Crap we get. (forgets he is the third most capped player for Scotland while at the dons, but wont try any of the current squad)

So what's going to be the deal with us Aberdeen fans getting our hands on tickets?

Details haven't been announced yet but if I remember correctly the stadium owners are responsible for the sale and distribution of tickets - ie Aberdeen FC. The tickets for the Nigeria game back in 2002 could be bough at the AFC ticket office. We were playing Hearts and I left the game early to beat the queue for a ticket. When I left we were winning 2-1, ended up losing 3-2 :P

Assuming the same conditions are applied this time, as a season ticket holder, am I going to be able to phone up the ticket office and get tickets? I won't be able to go in person as I'm not back in Aberdeen for a while.
