Iraq reach the Asian Cup final

Saw on the BBC Sports site today that Iraq beat South Korea on penalties to reach the final of the Asian Cup where they will face Saudi Arabia. Good to see them doing well and building on the good showing they had at the Olympics back in 2004.

I'VE BEEN MILDLY AMUSED BY THIS BUT FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS:

 

AFTER THE QUARTER FINALS, THE PEOPLE OF IRAQ TOOK TO THE STREETS AND FIRED GUNS IN THE AIR TO CELEBRATE, KILLING AROUND 5 PEOPLE AND INJURING DOZENS OF OTHERS.

 

THE SEMIFINAL WIN AFTER PENALTIES PUT EVEN MORE PEOPLE IN HOSPITAL BEDS AND GRAVES. THEN A SUICIDE BOMBER DECIDED TO TAKE A WANDER OUT INTO THE CROWDS TO SEE WHAT WAS UP.

 

MIND YOU, STILL SOUNDS BETTER THAN A WEEKEND IN GLASGOW WHEN THE OLD FIRM CIRCUS ROLLS AROUND.
