OddJob
Imo that's excellent news for Scotland as France will be quite nervous on Wednesday as they now know they HAVE to win. I'm not getting carried away and saying we'll win, but it's a start. Link to comment

Now France know they have to keep digging in. A good result for sure, an Italy win would have been disastrous, but not the best. Link to comment
Suspect Device
Boyd should not be used as a lone striker IMO. O'Connor would have to do that but I'm not really happy with him in the role either. Agreed Ferguson will have to be in the midfield for Wednesday. If you want somebody with composure and who very rarely loses the ball then you want Ferguson. Sorry to be praising a hun but since it's international week there are no clubs, only country. arthursseat
Lets not get any false impressions of what wednesday night is going to be like.....It's is going to be 90 minutes of back against the wall hell! That French midfield has the capability of tearing us a new arsehole and the Scottish team selection will be important. I agree that the French may have a couple of older players in their team that we may be able to exploit for pace so I though the suggestiong to play Robson was quite an intersting one which I would like to see. I dont think it will happen though. The same can be said for McFadden, I do't think he has a hope in hell of starting.....but would lov him too. McLeish may well drop Teale but he will keep MCulloch because we will need some one who can apprently 'put in a shift' against the french. I think the team will likely be as follows: GordonMcEvely McManus Weir HuttonMculloch Brown Fletcher Ferguson TealeOconner My prefferred team would be: GordonMcEvely McManus Weir HuttonMaloney Brown Fletcher Ferguson RobsonMcFadden Link to comment
MG_Don
Have a fair idea of what Big Eck will do, I would go with: ------------------Gordon----------------- Hutton Mcmanus Weir Mcevely Maloney Ferguson Fletcher Brown Mcfadden ---------------O'Connor------------------ Sad state of affairs when I'm actually saying we should start Weir, sadly we don't really have much choice. Tord31
I'd go with Gordon Hutton McManus Weir McEveley Hartley Fletcher Ferguson Mculloch Brown Boyd Probably, McLeish won't play Boyd as a lone striker so O'Connor or McFadden instead Link to comment

BUT - our team is slowly starting to show more quality, McFadden, Fletcher, BRown, and even the wee Ned are a pretty solid midfield. Link to comment

Herr Berti as manager of course....or EbbeHis greatest ever game for Scotland was definitely against England at Wembley, when he tore Sol Campbell a new arsehole. Other than that not many games of note. Quashie did quite well (when fit), but since he's struggling for club form he's never been picked since. Link to comment
paulkaneatemyhamster
Chris Illewemo (sp?) Now, this lad has forged a rather good career for himself in the 2nd tier of English football, better than say Kevin Kyle or Scott Dobbie, yet never been given a sniff of a call up Imean as forwards go he's certainly no worse than most of the guff Berti picked or even the likes of Lee McCulloch or Craig Beattie Link to comment
Madbad
You'd play Hutton and McEveky after the Lithuanians tore them a new one each in the second half? They were awful! France would get past them time after time, and only the world's greatest ever keeper of all time, honest, will keep the score in single figures! Link to comment

Teale and Mclooch should be dropped for the next game. both very overated IMO Link to comment

That would be my choice as well, but with McFadden just behind O'Connor. You've got to feel sorry for McManus in that defence though... Link to comment

I think its a disgrace that Hutton gets to pull on a Scotland jersey. He has a reasonably solid engine for getting up and down the flanks but he offers nothing else. He is volatile, clumsy in the tackle, end product is non-existant and he is fugly into the bargain....but, guess what.....he plays at Ibrox so its a no brainer. Link to comment
