vanderark14
i honestly believe we will do it. the belief in the team just now is brilliant. we have more talent and determination in the squad than ever before. Link to comment
Guest LondonScottish
What will be will be. History is against us, as we are capable of ***king anything up when it comes to football; but we have one Hell of a chance. Nobody would have dared believe we could be in this position with two games to go. Link to comment

florin_raducioiu
I really hope we do. A win on Wednesday puts REAL pressure on the French and Italians. That might be all it takes cos the French will then have to take 3 points from Ukraine if we were to get 3 points from our last two games. Could be squeeky bum time with Ukrainian shirt sales going through the roof on the final match day when we have no games remaining and Italy play the faroes and France go to Ukraine Link to comment
paulkaneatemyhamster
just avoid blowing it but we'll drop points to Georgia but beat Italy. Link to comment

Paris was a wake up call to them i think. they will take care of their own results. beat Georgia and Itlay and we dont need to worry about anything. Link to comment
Guest LondonScottish
If we don't beat Georgia on Wednesday then I'll hit the panic button, but we HAVE to take something from Georgia or I will cancel my flight to Austria. Tempting fate?? Link to comment
Rico
If we beat Italy, we're through. That's the great thing, the last game is meaningful even if we lose on wed. I'd have taken that if someone offered it at the start of the campaign. Link to comment

Thats what I'm saying. We don't HAVE to take something from wednesday. If we lose(not the most likely outcome of course) we'll still go through if we beat Italy. On a slightly related note, did that prick Chick Young not say he would cycle to Austria if we made it. Link to comment

I think it was the opposite actually. I'm sure he was so confident of qualification that he claimed he'd cycle to the Alps if we didn't make it! Link to comment

As for can we do it? Of course we can, but will we? Scotland have specialised in dramatic failures over the years, if we miss out now this would be the glorious failure to top all our previous attempts. We should get something in Georgia but with the squad stretched through injury and suspension we might get the win we desire. It will come down to getting a result vs Italy so it is vital we don't pick up needless bookings like McCulloch's, Ferguson's and O'Connor's on saturday. Any ideas who is one booking away from a suspension? Link to comment
The Oxford Don
Ferguson (again) for one. If what he claimed after the match is true (namely, that he merely asked the referee to explain why he'd booked McCulloch Link to comment

When the draw was made, Georgia was the fixture that put the sh*tes up me. Traditionally, this game will be our inevitable banana skin. I don't think we've got much chance to be honest, particularly considering the history of our national team. As sure as death & taxes, Scotland will ***k it up. 1978 - Iran & Peru 1982 - goal difference for the 3rd time in a row1996 - The space between David Seamans legs1998 - Morocco2003 - Holland 6-0 Scotland (6-1 agg) Yet another glorious failure surely awaits Scotland. I'm proud to be Scottish and I love supporting my country however, ultimately we are a nation of losers..... and so it will transpire, whether that be on Wednesday night or next month in Glasgow.
