paulkaneatemyhamster
Is Scottish football so bad and so unpopular that neither SKY or BBC are interested in showing it or paying for it ? Link to comment
vanderark14
Is Scottish football so bad and so unpopular that neither SKY or BBC are interested in showing it or paying for it ? didt you know that english football is by far the most amazing league in the world Link to comment
Guest LondonScottish
Is Scottish football so bad and so unpopular that neither SKY or BBC are interested in showing it or paying for it ? It does seem incredible that Sky and BBC would want to pay that amount to include League 1 and 2 football. And it can't be good for the small clubs as many fans, especially travelling ones may decide to become armchair fans, and take away from the atmosphere. What kind of money are Setanta paying just out of curiousity? Link to comment
Bobby Connor
Is Scottish football so bad and so unpopular that neither SKY or BBC are interested in showing it or paying for it ? As a nation our media and fans do ourselves no favours in constantly bashing the SPL. This deal is bad news for Scottish football - yet more wealth for down south. Link to comment
Bobby Connor
Interesting fact. Our '83 ECWC final was shown to 800M viewers in 40 countries. England was not one of those countries. Tells you all you need to know I guess? Link to comment

K-9
Is Scottish football so bad and so unpopular that neither SKY or BBC are interested in showing it or paying for it ?Just that both corporations are based in England and only seem interested in English football. Sure a few pennies will be thrown in the direction of Scotland though as a token gesture. Link to comment

Thats shocking and embarrassing. How the ***k can some of the sh*te in League 1 and 2 be getting more than we are?? Utter bollocks. Link to comment
dj_bollocks
Did nobody learn from the ITV Digital disaster.... Championship football is gash - who wants to watch QPR vs Colchester - they hardly draw in a crowd so how are they going to draw in any ratings... And to be fair - I'm generally quite happy with Setanta's coverage of Scottish football - although they clearly want more Premiership footy rights, but hopefully that won't be at the expense of our football - bin the Blue Square mince (although that's probably where our next star signing is coming from !) and show a Saturday and a Sunday SPL game Link to comment
K-9
They (Setanta) added the extra games not including the old firm in and paid a wee bit more but not too much more. Minimal monies from ITV/BBC for SPL highlights and a few quid from BBC for League Cup coverage and from Sky for Scottish Cup coverage. Link to comment

Did you no hear? SPL is conference standard at best TBH, unless we can sell our game abroad then our small population will always mean we command less TV revenue. At least what we do get could be shared out evenly though - y'know in the interests of the competitive league the OF claim to want. Link to comment

In the EPL does every club get a even split yearly or is it weighted in favor of the big teams ? Link to comment

If anyone watched the Edinburgh Derby followed by the West Ham Bolton game on Sunday, there was no doubt which one had the better football and was the better spectacle, but you'd never convince an Englishman, none of whom will have watche the former game of course. K-9
Cheers. I didn't know.Me neither. So Hearts took the bulk of the money assumed was going to Rangers after finishing 2nd despite Rangers having to play every 2nd week on a Sunday for telly? I thought with Setanta having Rangers TV and Celtic TV that was why they got the most. Link to comment
Bobby Connor
I thought with Setanta having Rangers TV and Celtic TV that was why they got the most. They may get additional, separate money for that. Don't know TBH. If you remember a few years back - the big hoo ha about the rest of the league splitting from the OF was down to this very issue. OF wanted most of the TV money and the other clubs said OFGTF. Link to comment
