Wasn't the story when they first got big though... walked out on them first time I saw them live, so godawful were they.

 

Subsequently seen them live numerous times, and they're effing banging these days.

Phoenix, I knew exactly what I was getting from Rocket's Ramones choice, but still couldna resist listening to it.

Listened to your Melody Gardot efter it and wow that was good.

Never heard of her, but she joins a fair list of decent female vocalists in the Imelda May, Caro Emerald mould.

I'm a sucker for them.

 

Like Rocket I just didn't get the New York Dolls, but when they were playing The Lemon Tree 2 years ago, it would have been daft nae to go see.

Glad I went cause I ended up enjoying the gig and revisiting all their stuff. See them in a completely different light from 35 - 40 years ago.

Just been getting back on Deep Purple - Machine Head.

 

What a fucking classic rock album........possibly flawless!!

 

Agreed. Amazing album. That and "In Rock" are my favourites of theirs. One of the greatest bands ever, right up to "Perfect Strangers" and "The Battle Rages On". Hell, even the later albums had their high points.
