I think the Champions Legaue is boring (75% of the time), it's over hyped to f**k, both Liverpool and Chelsea are boring as f**k to watch. Man Utd are slightly better and Arsenal, well who cares about them?

Liverpool shouldn't even be in the Champions League as they are not Champions of ANYTHING! The Champions League has just turned into a competition to keep the rich a little more richer than the rest.

Rarely do I agree with the would be casual, but he's spot on here. The endless league games in what is meant to be a cup, have meant I have watched about two CL games in the last four or five years.

Let's get it back to be ing a cup, oh wait, that would mean less money :itch-chin:

In my opinion it should be champions only.

End of story

if theres another league for all the "big" teams who finish 2nd 3rd 4th then so be it.

No prestige in the champions league anymore.

Been saying for 4 years now the league is more important then europe.

Wouldn't go as far as no prestige, but got to agree with the rest of that post.

What is missing is the excitement, and worse than that the UEFA cup (oops sorry, Europa League) has fallen even further, with teams - especially in England - now treating it on a par with the LEague Cup and playing reserve sides.

The problem is that the English teams are getting far too much money for just dicking about in the Premiership. The Cups haver no meaning to them anymore, there's no ambition to try and win a trophy. Just staying in the Premiership makes them happy because that's where the money is. Now we have a different scenario where Aston Villa have no interest in the UEFA Cup because they're challeneging for a Champions League place where there's even more money. It's all wrong.

Trouble is Jaws, a lot of fans now agreeing with that line of thought as well. I put a poll up on TW last year after Bolton threw the UEFA cup, asking whether in aa hypothetical situation, would you accept relegation if you had a cup win, and posted four options, not in any case, yes for the LEague Cup, yes for the FA, and yes for UEFA cup. The majority still came out wanting to stay up over any silverware, and this from a club that has a solitary FA Cup win since WWII, and only four in their history.

Poor stuff imo.

This is what Rafa has been holding out for. Him Kuyt and Agger will all get the deals done now. Parry is a clown and this is great news for LFC! Now 1 down 2 to go!

While I expect a flaming from you and young Roberto, I think Liverpool fans are too blinkered by Rafa's CL win. There was no suggestion that Parry was a clown before the Spanish JC came along. Rafa's constant tinkering (that has cost the league again) and ill-advised outburst at Fergie rather point to the clown being of a Manuel-ish leaning, rather than the chief exec. I think you may rue this day, but good luck to you.

Definitely NOT all Liverpool fans - see my post on the first page of this thread. The overall tone of the fans on Sunday (I was at the Man City game) was almost entirely negative on the subject of Benitez, and that was before the match. You should have heard them afterwards - if you think Dons fans can moan... sheesh!

Fatshaft, in many ways I do agree with you. I was just having this discussion with Macca on MSN, and I have said for a long time, I don't think Rafa can win us the league. However, we're making progress under the lad with very limited funds at times. Yes the usual "he's had so much money to spend bla bla bla bla" - I'll have evidence and provide that he's had to work with limited resources funded from the board since he started with Liverpool.

Most Liverpool fans do support Rafa, that is obvious when his name is the loudest song sang at every match, certainly that i have been to this season!! In my opinion he has totally transformed the team and is closing in on his ideal team. Our best eleven can beat anyone on it's day and all we need is some depth, which all i can say is i hope we can afford! His constant tinkering hasn't been a huge issue really, with many changes forced due to injuries. He definately has his ideal 11 which he plays whenever possible. I'll admit he has been a bit different recently and the results have affected that. But any man with the job secuirty of his until this point could be forgiven for being a bit iffy! I still think its the yanks and parry that need to go. A fully backed Rafael Benitez WOULD win the premier league.

And before everyone moans, just my opinion.

English football not looking very exciting at the moment compared to SPL. Looks like league in england to be decided in April and may well be that the european places are decided not long after that.

If Lampard hadn't scored in injury time it would have been over this afternoon.

But 3rd, 4th, 5th and possibly 6th could last until the end.

Rather embarassing result for Liverpool today, Boro's first win in 15 games.

Title over IMO now.

Liverpool are finished. They looked a beaten team from the start. Having only 2 matchwinners in the squad was always going to catch up with them.

Chelsea will power on and finish 2nd. Scousers playing for 3rd now.

I've also said, I hope he proves me wrong. We're not just going by Rafa winning the Champions League in 2005. We've made a hell of a lot of progress under Rafa, and we're now showing we can challenge for the title, ok in the last couple of weeks we've slipped up but I don't think its all over yet. There is no way we're out of it! We'll win the up and coming games and I think March 14th things will go wrong for Man United and teams won't give them the respect that they have been showing of late! They can be beaten.

Anyways back to Rafa, we've made progression and what does sacking a manager who's won a good number of trophies since coming to Liverpool, what good does it do? Teams who sack managers often do not make progression - its back to the start and work to where you already were and try and make further progression. Rick Parry's sacking in my eyes is the second coming of Liverpool and I really believe we'll come out with a bang now and ok possibly finish 2-3 points behind Man United, but I can have my head held high at end of the season and say "by f**k we challenged, when was the last time that happened". 2-3 GOOD signings in the Summer and who knows. I'm not going to be the usual Liverpool fan who says every year "this will be the one", but I think it IS coming sooner than later.

So in ways I do agree with you, but I want to give him time rather than kick him out the door when I think he's one of the best tacticians in the game.

It's all over now.

Another abject performance, and if Chelski & poss Villa keep up their good recent form you might have to settle with 4th.
