GK55
Wouldnt be surprised if it was - experienced, seemingly good role model for the youngsters, etc. Link to comment
ScottishJohn
In Mawene's first press conference Brown said he is a potential captian. Mawene said something about wanting to be a leader on te pitch as he's one of the older guys. IMO Mackie would be a decent captain but I'd rather have a CB or CM as captain. Link to comment

Wanderingdon
I think Mawene would make a good Captain, as he is new to the club and has not been ground down by the usual AFC Sh1t. Never seen him play but watched him a few times and seems a decent def, and not scared to get into a tackle and wins more than many of 50/50 ball's. Give him a chance what other options do we have Link to comment
HH_is_back
Mackie captain material, Captain at Dyce, thats where his level is at. Link to comment

Tord31
New captain will be a new signing or Foster. Would think best choice is we haven't signed the new captain yet but yea figure Mawene is leading the way at the moment. Such shorttermism by the club though making someone in for one year Captain. The club stumbles on from low to low treading water until the new stadium. Link to comment
Dynamo
Why Foster? Not exactly a good choice of captain, a player that doesn't want to be here. Link to comment
Stoney
Aye f**k him, he loved every minute playing for rangers. Send him packing, Link to comment

The club stumbles on from low to low treading water until the new stadium. He was signed on a two year deal and was a natural choice for the captain. That it didn't work out can hardly be classed as short-termism. Link to comment

fine-n-dandy
It's ok, we have plenty time to get in a captain.First few games of season are just warm ups, pre season games if you like.Season doesn't start proper until the window closes on 31st Aug.That's when we'll start taking ourselves seriously. fine-n-dandy
Foster! I don't think we're allowed to foster in captains, I think we have to sign them on FT contracts Link to comment

OddJob
Of the current squad i can only think of Mawene or Considine being able to justify the captaincy Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
after 7 or 8 competitive games?! Yeah why not?Doesn't seem that we're in any rush to have the squad in the least bit ready for first game, so why worry about something as trivial as a captain until the REAL season starts after the window closes? First half dozen games in the league are just like gelling time & results are just something to worry about later when the important games come along Or so it fkn seems. Have a look at Kelts 'Four like new signings' thread for my real views on these type of things. http://www.afc-chat.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=25708 Link to comment

jaybee1978
I sincerely doubt Brown's sitting twiddling his thumbs. We could sign anyone for the sake of it now, or try and bide our time a bit while appreciating it's an early start this season and we need to hit the ground running. I suspect it'd be the same people complaining if we settled for signing just anyone now, and later on it transpires that better players became available later in the window but we'd already spunked the whole budget. People want "names" and people want them now but the transfer market just doesn't work that way unfortunately. I agree. I'd rather we waited and got the right players as opposed to signing players just to fill up the squad. We need players who are going to improve our team. Preferably some who have a bit of experience to help bring on our young prospects. Link to comment
