Now Would Be A Great Time To...

i really don't know what brown is up to. awarding foster the captaincy, playing a 6"2 ex goalkeeper left wing, ballootering almost his entire budget on unnecessary midfielders, ridiculous expectations of the worst player at the club in mackie and the fact he seems to see making us hard to beat is his most important task. plus he is almost as old as the main stand and can hardly be here for the long haul, these are reasons i'm very concerned for us this season. as for jefferies, na not for me, he's a cross between jimmy calderwood and harry fae dumb n dumber.

And what do you think his most important task should have been?

And FFS Mini, you called Brown too negative the other day, I think half this board would be on suicide watch if JJ came in.

i reckon that should have been his initial task when he was appointed. i thought we had a terrible team last season, i think it's worse now. he seems utterly clueless, why else would you consider playing magennis left wing, and giving foster the captaincy? sickeningly i have an awful feeling mackie will be an ever present this season aswell.

Tough times require radical thinking. The two of them should job share, winner stays on. If one person wins a game they take charge for the next game. Whoever wins the most games at the end of the year gets the job.

Either that or start paying Brown a performance based wage:

Jim Jeffries would be this generation's Alex Miller.

Easy to build a decent side when you have by far the third largest budget in the league.

I'd be confident of playing 1st division football within a year if he were appointed.

Thank you. Just remembered things are not as bad as they were.

Jefferies as Dons boss - jeeping f**k! :suicide:

Look, it's been a sh*te-awful start to the season but there is no need to completely lose the plot. How much more money do we need to spunk away on compensation for managers? Christ, Cloughie would struggle to get a performance out of the current shower of half-wits, dead-beats, journeymen, kids and nonentities who populate our team.

We have to give Brown budget, and time. And accept that we are probably going to finish somewhere between 5th and 9th.

Or, we could sack Brown, obliterate whatever meagre transfer budget we might have, and face a genuine relegation scrap under the management of f**k-Knows-Who.

Yay for the second scenario! Sign me up.

What a thoroughly brilliant idea

Now if we just had brown on no contract like when he was at motherwell we could have got rid of him for peanuts

problem is any money we have left to get in what we need would be spent getting rid of the management we have

Yet another knee jerk idea not thought through :suicide:

I don't think it's quite that simple ebbe & I'm sure you know this already, although I feel your frustration as well.

Clearly Brown has to make average players feel better and lift their morale, so giving Foster the armband (which I disagree with) and praising Mackie is surely only to try and get the best out of very average players at best. They might be good guys in the dressing room as well and during training, plus with our budget there's little else we can do until Mackie/Paton/McGennis contracts run out. It will also encourage AFC youngsters that they can also captain their side and maybe get a testimonial one day.

Foster may become a late developer, it does happen, but he's is fairly pish in all honesty. I don't remember thinking Hart was up to much, but later on he seemed to come on to a game. With proper coaching and man management we might see some hope.

Something must be seriously wrong if their morale has to be lifted right at the start of the season.

These guys have seen failure season after season and been condemned by fans at matches & forums. That's going to have an adverse effect on anyone's confidence. The best guy at making players believe was SAF. He could play the mind games perfectly and turn average into good and good into great. Arguably you need some talent to mould in the first place, but you get my drift.

Would we rather see CB rip these guys apart publicly? McGhee did that and we got two of our worst seasons.

I've no doubt, if we had cash to burn guys like Mackie/Paton/McGennis/Foster ect would all be reserve players or sold on, but we can't afford it, so we're stuck with them.

Hold on though, it's not as if they've all been at the club for years.

But you also raise a serious point about being condemned by the fans at matches and forums. Maybe it's time to be reminded that it's all our fault.

Do you think that many of them read what is said about them on here?

I'd say many younger players read forums and websites to gauge fans opinions; generation thing. I would hope more mature players would stay away from forums as they are not places were sentiment is in abundance.

Bebo and his bird read many comments about him apparently on places like this and Twitter, but players have to cope with it now more than before. Before the internet fans really only shared views at games n pubs, now the world can see their thoughts and so can the players.

I'd say subconsciously at least, all the negative posts on forms/websites can put fans in the more negative mindset and that's transferable to the players on the pitch when things are not going well. This applies to every team, but not every team has the history we do, so our pride takes more of a beating. Just a thought though, may be well off the mark.
