Coopy100
Paul Lambert is the best player Scotland produced in the last 20 years, by some distance.I actually forgot about him. I would agree with you there. He could play. Link to comment
The Oxford Don
Paul Lambert is the best player Scotland produced in the last 20 years, by some distance. Agreed, though I'd dispute 'by some distance' as it's a close-run thing between him and Collins. The last time I saw Lambert play was against Germany in a 1-1 Euro qualifier draw at Hampden. He was given the job of man-marking Ballack that day, and honestly if Ballack touched the ball more than four times that day, he was lucky. And Lambert didn't do it by kicking lumps out of him, he simply played right over the top of him. An outstanding player, who should have been capped many, many more times than he was and probably got overlookd because he made his move to Timothy relatively late in his career. Jess is just wishful thinking on our part. Lambert and Collins are way out in front, with Craig Gordon for me behind them in third. Link to comment

He played that holding role for Dortmund with class, Collins was a very good player, but just lacked that bit of pace. Link to comment

Fletcher springs to mind. Link to comment
StandFree1982
If Darren Fletcher took his form at Manchester United into the Scotland squad, he'd be my top "jock" player of the last 20 years. Link to comment

Chrisyboy81
I'm sure he will when he's 39 and half dead. 8 grand a week, club captain at ...Aberdeen, we are a refuge for over-paid and well past it players, Football Club. Even then he'd be too good for us. Link to comment

tup
Fletcher hasn't played in SPL though... Man United poached him off the bulimic hun after Fergie personally tapped him and his parents up, as he's done many times since with others in direct contravention of basic rules in football. OddJob
Aye Paul Lambert was an excellent player. In fact the Scotland midfield of that time was fantastic, with Lambert, Collins, McAllister and McCall. Great passers of the ball and good vision too. Link to comment
Jonty
I'd say Gary Mac or Aiden Mcgeady. Link to comment
