Jocky Balboa
Absolutely right! I am glad he's come out with what he feels and I kind of thought all along he had no respect for AFC even though it was playing for AFC was his most successful years as footballer............by a mile. He did sweet FA in germany and with the tic when he returned. Fuck him. He made it clear when he accepted the job that we were his second option and that should have warned AFC that his heart wasnt in it! Ahem, didn't Celtic win the double with him in their Centenary season and the Cup in 1989? I don't know much about his 1yr with Hamburg, but he returned primarily because his childhood heroes Celtic came in for him, not because he disgraced himself. As for his choices, only a diehard Dandy who grew up in the NE of Scotland wouldn't have went for the Celtic job first, if both that and the AFC post were available at the same time. Sure, there are many legit criticisms of McGhee, but his record as a player is NOT one of them (a travesty that he only won a few Scotland caps, while Kenny Minker has nearly 60. McGhee was twice the player Minker will ever be) and by interviewing for the Celtic job, he only did what 99% of Managers would have done - chosen the better job first. Link to comment
