Sonoftherock
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/17767985 Surely this GP should have been cancelled or at least postponed. The Formula One authorities are going to have a lot to answer for if anyone gets hurts. Completely agree with Nico Hulkenburgs comments, they should never have been put in this position. Absolute madness. Link to comment

Absolute madness.A completely farcicail decision by the F1 hierarchy. Ecolstones latest justification is that Labour and Conservative voters dont get on in Britian so this sort of thing is common around the world. He fails to notice that Labour and Conservative voters may not get on in a political sense but they do have a properly functioning democracy. Link to comment
Dandyesque
I hope the viewing figures reflect this and it would be good to see the TV companies taking a moral stand - not that it would ever happen Link to comment
Crossbow
Interesting day yesterday - and well done to Pastor, firstly for winning the race and secondly for rescuing his cousin from the fire. Link to comment
tainboy
Decent enough race bu the different winners ans teams is great for F1. Makes a challenge out of the championship now. Link to comment
looksgoodinred
hopefully the Montreal F1 isn't disrupted next weekend by the student protests -- although some ticket holders have already received anonymous letters and messages telling them to stay away. i expect metro police will become less gentle in dealing with the protestors as F1 fans roll into town. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/story/2012/06/02/quebec-student-talk-collapse-charest-tremblay-f1.html Link to comment

looksgoodinred
What are they protesting against? Overuse of the word Eh. . no, lol. it originally started as protests against proposed university tuition increases, and has since ballooned to include protests against what most feel is squelching of their rights to free assembly and protest, with the passage of emergency legislation by the Quebec government earlier in May requiring the protestors to file their intent to protest (if it's more than 50 people in advance with the police, and other limitations). also in May, Montreal passed legislation making it illegal to wear face coverings/masks during protests. the federal government is seeking to make their use during unlawful assembly an offence punishable by up to 10 years' imprisonment. last night would be the 39th straight day/night of protests, with almost 10,000 out in the streets, starting off as three individual protests, joining together at the end. having not filed the requisite information. 2,500 have been arrested so far, and Montreal riot police have been out now each night. earlier in the protests there was more rioting, looting, setting police cars alight, throwing rocks and molotov cocktails.. but this seems to have settled down. for now. On May 22, the Council of Canadians activists (including Board member Abdul Pirani and political director Brent Patterson) marched with 250,000 people in Montreal protesting Bill 78, tuition hikes, environmental harm and austerity measures - and joined the march later that afternoon that defied Bill 78 by not submitting the route in advance to the police. CLASSE - Coalition large de l’Assocation pour une solidarité syndicale étudiante - described that march as “the single biggest act of civil disobedience in Canadian history”. that would be why. in a nutshell. Quebec's summer of discontent. Link to comment
tainboy
Cracking race yesterday. 7 races. 7 different winners. This is going to be the closest season for years which is awesome for the sport. Link to comment

fifered
Good results for the competition today.Had Hamilton done that to Maldonado he would be getting it tight from the F1 bosses. Hopefully Maldonado gets it, terrible driving, fully off the track and just launched himself at Hamilton. Link to comment
tainboy
Not so sure; first corner pastor is ahead, then after the corner Lewis forces him off the track, he comes back towards track and watch the replay, he's on full left lock. He'll probably get a 5 grid place punishment. At time Hamilton was going backwards like Michael Jackson anyway so probably saved him an embarassing finish. Shame fro grosjean though. Link to comment

Pastor should get punished - he needs to learn patience as you say Lewis was going backwards anyway. Tragic for Grosjean as well as he might have had a chance though have to say Alonso drove brilliantly. Link to comment

fifered
KarmaHarsh. I reckon Hamilton gets a hard time, certainly harder than other drivers. Long way to go though, still almost anyones to win. What a difference to last years procession. Link to comment
tightbreeks
weird race, 2 renault engines failed. very odd for these cars to not finish these days. if di resta hadn't spunked his load on the last sector of qualifying he would've been well up the grid, and maybe a better race to. Link to comment
jassb
Did anyone see that start today? Wonder how much that crash would have cost. Link to comment
Big Man
Did anyone see that start today? Wonder how much that crash would have cost. Aye, I'm watching it the now. It was pretty spectacular. The stewards will no doubt go to town on Grosjean. Link to comment

thebladder
I see Hamilton is away to Mercedes with Perez going to McLaren, shame, I would have liked to have seen Di Resta at McLaren(maybes he's gettin Massa's seat after all) Link to comment
Henry
That was probably the most exciting race I've watched in a long long time. Sky bigged up both games on their 'Super Sunday' - decided, na fuck that, I'll pass on that pish so plumped for the F1...glad I did. If it was a league game or an FA Cup game, I'd be watching.
