True_Don
DONALD Trump today became the latest to call on Aberdeen FC fans to get behind their team. The American business magnate was delighted when Aberdeen vice-chairman George Yule presented him with a club shirt. Trump now wants fans to show their true colours and turn up in force at their matches in the coming season. Aberdeen FC need more fans to attend games to help them cope with the drop in revenues because Rangers have been banished to the Third Division. Trump hopes the people in the North-east will give the team as much support as they did to help him build his new golf course at the Menie Estate. Trump said: Link to comment

Aberdeen FC need more fans to attend games to help them cope with the drop in revenues because Rangers have been banished to the Third Division. Trump hopes the people in the North-east will give the team as much support as they did to help him build his new golf course at the Menie Estate. Trump said: We had many obstacles and challenges to overcome in the pursuit of our vision. But with the support of the North-east people we remained focused on our goal and have just launched, what many are describing as the greatest golf course in the world, right here in Aberdeenshire. We have a great sports heritage in this region and an even better future. I encourage the supporters of Aberdeen to get behind their team during these challenging times and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead and aim for the very best! Trump follows in the footsteps of Denis Law, who made a similar plea at the weekend. Why don't you put your hands in your pocket and invest in AFC Mr Trump!! Message from AFC fans to Mr Trump;"Help the club"! The Donald Trump stadium....if you pay for it first! Link to comment

looksgoodinred
Doesn't he have previous for investing in sports teams in the US and just using them as a plaything. As an aside, I hope anyone calling for him (or anyone else for that matter) to invest in AFC isn't the sort who sits in the hoose on a Saturday and puts zip into AFC. Did The Donald mention whether or not he'd purchased a season ticket or two? Link to comment
tup
We could offer to add his name to the existing Beach End moniker in exchange for a wad of cash. 'The Dick Donald Trump' Stand. Just for a season or two. 1 Link to comment

I wonder if the (moderate) moderator's salary got paid into this account? Perhaps Sonoftherock can confirm. His bird will be disappointed he got sacked if so. Bet she hates me. No wonder her man took to signing me up for gay porn sites with stolen details from AFC Chat. It would have taken a herculean effort not to have cracked up in the face of my onslaught. 2 Link to comment

looksgoodinred
Pretty sure he's never owned any sports franchise in the US, could be wrong though, but golf seems to be his sporting sideline. Indeed he did. He owned the USFL NJ Generals for two seasons. They did poorly under his first season of ownership; better the second. Trump seems to have had big plans for the team. 1986The USFL planned to play its 1986 schedule in the fall, directly opposite the NFL, thanks mostly to Trump's strong advocacy of direct competition with the older, established league. Two years earlier, Trump sold most of his fellow owners on a move to the fall by arguing that it would eventually force a merger with the NFL--in which the owners of any USFL teams included in a merger would see their investment more than double. The Generals merged with the Houston Gamblers during the extended offseason, adding such stars as quarterback Jim Kelly and wide receiver Ricky Sanders. Michaels was fired, replaced with former Gamblers coach Jack Pardee, who planned to bring the Gamblers' high-powered run and shoot offense with him. However, the USFL's "Dream Team" never took the field. The 1986 season was cancelled after the USFL won a minimal verdict in an antitrust lawsuit against the NFL; the league folded soon afterward. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey_Generals Link to comment
