King Street Loon
Looking to get my back garden landscaped once the extension 'eventually' gets finished(would have to bloody start for that ).And also the front garden area tidied up. Can anybody on here recommend a gardener that they've used, or have heard good reports about? We get plenty fliers through the door, but separating the pikey from the proper is a task in itself. Ideally would like to get someone asap for the front. Cheers Link to comment

You talking laying turf, few shrubs' stuff like that?Cheers Dayts. The front is a small area that is needing new top soil, and some plants/bushes moved from back garden to front. Once the extension is finished, looking to get a new patio area, slabbing and raised flower beds out the back. It's very boggy at the back and it's killing most plants on a regular basis, so looking to cure that. It might be too big a job for a homer, I don't know. See if he's interested. Poodler
Back in the indoor garden game Bonsai trees. Love them. Last one was butchered by an ex after I went away for a few weeks. Any green fingers round here? Link to comment
For Fecks Sake
Older I get, the more I enjoy spending time in the garden (preferably with a beer and the radio on listening to the footy). Have no imagination when it comes to planning how things will be, I am meerly the manual labour and the Mrs is the brains behind it all. Link to comment
Redforever86
Used to enjoy growing vegetables back in BOD. Nae time now and to much rain. Got a wee basil plant in the kitchen. Would like a wee poly tunnel or green house one day. Tomatoes, chillis, pepper etc. Link to comment
Poodler
^had a chilli plant in rosemount, grew surprisingly well. The chills were decent too. Also got some Ivy to grow down the bookcase and a Polyscias tree beside the fireplace. Bloody love plants, me. When not indulging sinful behaviour. Basil plants easily sulk, like birds Link to comment

Also got some Ivy to grow down the bookcase and a Polyscias tree beside the fireplace. Bloody love plants, me. When not indulging sinful behaviour. Basil plants easily sulk, like birds Had a few chili pepper plants on the patio, green jalapeno and some red Thai peppers. Took good care of them, but the peppers kept disappearing. One night I'm having a slash in the bathroom overlooking the patio and the motion lights kick on. "Oi oi?" I thinks to myself. These two raccoons come stottin' along the wall, straight up to my plants, and start tearing the peppers off and jamming them into their stupid raccoon faces. Grew raspberries until this year. Lawn service drove a lawnmower over the plant, though. Also grow grapes, but the birds eat them. I'll leave to go up north/on holiday for a few weeks, leaving all these lovely bunches of grapes starting to appear. Get back... fuck all left. Have an apple tree and a mutant pear tree that grows 5 kinds of pear. My blueberries died... too cold, and the soil is shite. My yellow raspberries dies... too cold and the soil is shite. My second attempt at grapes died... too cold and the soil is shite. Planted a third variety of grape, so we'll see if it survives through till Spring. I planted a thing called a Saskatoon Serviceberry, a member of the blueberry family that grows in Alsaska, where it's too cold and the soil is shite. Last I saw of it it was doing well and sprouting leaves. So I'll be having some of them. Been looking at getting myself a couple of acres of decent growing land, somewhere I can plant a wee orchard or some vines... maybe when I retire I'll go full on Vintner Kelt. Link to comment

I got the plant from Dobbies (local garden centre) and the things were like napalm. Would've killed a 70+ person The red thai peppers were pretty fucking hot. According to the Googles... How hot are Thai peppers? These chilies fall in the range of “pretty darn hot”, which in more scientific terms means around 50,000 to 100,000 Scoville heat units. That's about 23 times the average heat of a jalapeño. But really they are at the bottom rung of what you'd call the hot peppers. What I could salvage I put in my Chili, and it gave it a fair kick. Was impressed that the raccoons could just down them nae bother. I have a hard time handling too hot a pepper, so if I'd gnawed on one of the Thai peppers raw I'd likely have been hospitalised. I think raccoons are like goats inasmuch as if they can find it they'll eat it. Link to comment
Poodler
Are you allowed to shoot them or trap them on your property? Serious Q. I'm surprised so much fruit grows up there I assumed it was cold as shit in Detroit all the time. Small town ignorance once again. Link to comment

I'm surprised so much fruit grows up there I assumed it was cold as shit in Detroit all the time. Small town ignorance once again. Summers here are hotter than fuck, and with the great lakes it can get humid inna, so you sometimes get a pretty tropical environment through Summer. Was looking at average temperatures in July between Aberdeen and Detroit, 14C in Aberdeen and 29C in Detroit. Winters are brutal, though... Aberdeen in January +3C, in Detroit -4C... so it's hotter and colder here dependent upon the season. There's actually vineyards at the top of Michigan, which in geographic terms puts them further north than Toronto and Ottawa. Link to comment
