Microsoft Xbox One Rip Off

Recommended Posts

Microsoft plan to charge up to the full retail price when their new XBox One comes out to anyone using pre owned games.

They have also set up the new XBox in a way so you cannot lend your friends games. You can take your game to your friends house, sign into your XBox account and play at theirs but as you can only sign in from one location at a time if you leave the game and are left signed into your friends XBox you will not be able to then play a different game at home.

It seems they're trying to take on Sky with the Xbox one with it's multipurpose approach rather than concentrating on gaming.

Already hate the way you have to pay for xbox live and then if you borrow a mate's game or buy a preowned game you have to pay on top of that to access online features.

Why can't Microsoft and Sony just realise that people aren't wanting a GAMES console that does everything! The majority of people who own an xbox or playstation already have access to a DVD player or a blu-ray player. They also have some form of MP3 playing device or a CD player. They will also very likely have freeview and / or Sky, BT or Virgin. Having a machine that does all of this in one is just pointless. For starters, what if you wanted to listen to music while playing your xbox? Well, you can't if it's your music system. What if your partner wanted to watch a movie or the telly but you've binned sky etc for your new fangled device, well...you now need to turn the fucking thing off until she is finished watching her shite. The Kinect is fine if you've people round, but it soon becomes boring and you just want to sit down, stop looking like a twat waving your arms around and pretending to run, and just play PROPER GAMES.

Besides all of the above, it also increases the price of the device. I just want something that plays good games. I don't want something that replaces all the things I already have because it just doesn't do any of those things any better!

One thing that did piss me off about the PS3 was the fact that it was a FAT32 system, which meant that you can't put any mkv movies on it over 4gb. I thought it was meant to be a media device?!?!

It's alleged that they could charge up to £35 for a second hand game license. Fuck that! You'd have to pay £5-20 for the game from a shop / seller and then pay the £35 on top of that? No thanks.

They have said that shops need a license or something to sell the games as well and Microsoft get a fee for selling each game. This is just going to put more shops out of business and it will hinder the gaming industry rather than help it.

I find you get a much better selection of games in the second hand section, especially in places like Asda where they only really do chart and a number of other "hit" games. The second hand section has classics such as Fallout 3, Splinter Cell Conviction amongst others (which i've bought recently) which weren't available in the new games section.

Microsoft GTF.

Sony...you might have to GTF as well if you follow suit.

I only buy games that I am waiting to come out, not much of a casual gamer shopper. Since I mostly play online (COD/FIFA etc), don't really want to wait to pick up second hand, but it does seem a bit daft going up against gamers in this way.

On the other hand, I can see why though. A single player game, many will only play once then trade in. Goes through a few owners and the game has only been bought from the games developer/producer once. With the market more and more prevalent, it means that developers are struggling to make money out of it.

They won't be far off an iTunes type thing and for that to work to its best (i.e. profit maximisation), they need to kill the second hand market.

It's already far beyond that

Your smartphone identifies your location at all times, and government monitors all communications, building up an image of your social network if they need/want to.

Your ISP logs your online activities, handing over any and all data to government as and when it's demanded.

CCTV monitors citizens in every major population centre in real time, with all collected data available to law enforcement.

Netflix, Hulu and your Cable provider log your viewing choices, with all data available to law enforcement.

Your credit card activities are monitored by the CC 'Fraud' Department, with all purchase data available to law enforcement.

Your library records monitor what kind of thing you're reading, with all records available to law enforcement.

Your personal Emails read (without any legal oversight) by the FBI (see Carnivore)

This is here in the LAND OF THE FREE™, of course, but if anyone reckons they have any more privacy in the UK then your head is up your arse.

And yet they want to remove even more privacy and freedom in order to save us from the terrorists.
