What’s the asterisk next to Slobodan for?

8 players out of contract 2024, could do with tying some up so we aren’t chasing 10-12 new signings again next summer and can focus on a few key additions.

Roos is the obvious one, a 2 year extension would be great.

Hayes you’d imagine will retire so he’ll need replaced.

Ngwenya and Stewart don’t need replaced.

Maybe 1 of Polvara and Barron kept around another year if only for some stability in the squad? - need to see how they perform this year as well.

Which leaves the loan players who haven’t featured yet but we’ll end up needing to replace next year to keep the numbers up in the squad. Would be nice to unearth another Scottish based player or two to replace some of them.

How long since we last signed a player on pre-contract? They don’t seem to be as common as they were a few years ago?

Not worried about the squad turnover for 2024 too much.

Need to be getting Roos signed up on an extension and sourcing a £1M striker to replace whichever of Duk or Miovski make it out the door first.

Assume Stewart and Ngwenya never return.

If Barron is going to be a starting Mid then they need to offer him more than a grand a week.  Hopefully both sides see the benefit of a new sensible deal.

Football Monitoring Board stated their objective to get the turnover down next summer.

It's looking good to minimise the turnover next summer;

January SQUAD PLANNING moves should be:

- Try to extend Barron contract

- Try to move Ngwenya and Stewart out on a permanent basis

- Try to terminate Dadia and Richardson loans - like for like swap as both loans have been a disaster

- Try to terminate Williams loan and look to source a young centre back on a permanent transfer

- Try to sign Gartenmann on a permanent (but ok to defer to Summer if transfer fee is on high side)

 

That could leave Roos and Hayes (and probably Gartenmann) as the only players out of contract in Summer 2024

Can we see gartenmann in a few more games before we clamour for him to be signed permanently. We've made this mistake before.

Surely then one of the priorities should also be trying to extend Roos's contract?
