So......

So is everybody still hating on Ash Taylor.

Glad I stuck by the lad when clangers was making him look bad.

Some of you should be hanging your head in shame though

I had totally written him off and never wanted to see him in a Dons shirt again after the game at New Douglas Park.

However, I am absolutely delighted to be eating humble pie. He has been immense since Brown has been between the sticks.

Feel DM deserves as much credit as anyone. I was very sceptical when he initially arrived having been part of a defence that conceded the most amount of goals in their league and were relegated. However said i will judge him when I actually see him play. Watching the limited spl YouTube highlights and taken what is said on the forums (with a pinch of salt) is what I have to go by until I see the player in action. I was a bit worried after the highlights against Killie (2-0 victory early this season) as he seemed off the pace (someone on here actually took my comments as being my definitive opinion of the lad unfortunately despite not having read my other comments about him - selective choosing of my comments regarding Taylor). Said I trusted DM when he signed him and that he'd become a good player along with Scott Brown.

Was arguably our best player against Motherwell the other week - fast considering the size of him and wins absolutely everything in the air. Also was pleasantly surprised by his distribution and passing ability from the back. I guess having a competent goalie has helped him come along too.

DM has made some solid signings - Wylde, Zola and Tate really should have been better players on paper just didnt work out.

Not sure about that one, there wasn't a great deal to suggest that big Calv would be a player. I think when we signed him most recognised that was a risk but were optimistic about it being one worth taking.

I'll be the same to say that after watching Ash at Hamilton I had made my mind up and was convinced we needed Anderson back asap. Seeing him at Tannadice a few weeks ago I was stunned. While I'd seen him gradually improve, the presence and distribution he showed on the field against United showed me that we had an absolute find on our hands.

There was an interesting feature on him in the paper this week. Del talking about how they were actually watching another player from Tranmere when they came across Ash and he totally took the spotlight.

Once van Dijk leaves Sellic I imagine we'll have the best centre back pairing in the league.

It will be one of those cruel twists of fate that when we win the league Anderson won't get a medal because he hasn't played enough games due to Taylor keeping him out of the team (assuming everyone is still pretending Anderson will ever be match fit again).

I'm sure he'll be happy to be the one lifting the trophy though...

Hiya!

it was selective as you wanted me to find posts where you hadn't been complementary, after denying you had been nasty about poor ash. So...that's why it was selective.

I argued with some on facebook about him, they wanted him dropped but Clangers to remain as number 1, that to me is fucking spasticated to the max, look at the difference now, McInnes to his credit stuck by him and if we look back he's usually one to drop a player he has signed that hasn't worked out as well as he had hoped but by fuck Ash has been superb, never seen a defender dominate the air as much as he does.

What's the consensus on Ash Taylor? Not able to tell much from the footage I've seen of him but it looks like he was at fault for both goals in the Dundee game. Only got that to go by and the fact that we are conceding goals pretty frequently at the moment with him and Reynolds as a pairing. Does he bring Reynolds down?

I like him.

Reminds me of Brian Irvine.

Tall and gangly and plenty of folk who know nothing about football thinking he's shite.

Yes he has had a couple of bad moments touch wise but he's a defender first and foremost. If he was ace at passing the ball he'd be in midfield.

Does the job he's there to do quite well. Will only improve with time.

I was saying that three months ago Eric Black for Boss. ;)

Anyone who denies Taylor was pish in the first set of games is lying. United at home, Dundee away, Hamilton away all springing to mind as horror games. He's fairly come on though. I doubt Scott Brown will pick the ball out of the net again this season.

I forgot about Dundee away. Langfield did not help matter that day but you're right all the same.

You've got to remember it takes time to settle, he wasn't great but there were signs that he could be a good player for us, certain things you could see that he was trying to do but his luck was down and nothing went his way.
