Dont see this VAR thing in England going away any time soon.  Same basic problem as up here.  You’re allowing some bloke (insert club affiliation allegation as required) to decide subjectively, but transparently, if he’s going to use the technology available to him or not.

* the reported link is that the officials in question were just back from reffing a Saudi game on freelance and the suggestion is that exposes them to alleged corruption and perks from Man City (owners) and Newcastle (financiers).  So not pictured in a fans bar or teaching academy kids or anything like that.

For the record Scotlands refs are still useless but fair play McLean for trying to rise above it.  Hope he gets his windows fixed soon.

You could hit someone with a dart walking down Union Street that could referee better than Beaton.

Would be an idea to hire referees from another country and get rid of VAR, so no additional cost involved. 

Furthermore those referees should have no affiliation to any side in our leagues.

Therefore if they are equally as pish at least they cannot be accused of bias.

For all the justified slagging that many of these useless fuckers get, it's worth pointing out that Steven McLean was excellent on Saturday. 

He wasn't interested in any of the screaming and intimidation that the huns inflict on referees, and whistled the game the way it was. He was unfussy, only gave 4 fouls against us, and yellow carded the bastards when they needed yellow carding. 

10/10 performance. 

I've no doubt that the orks think differently though.

Allowing Lasley to throw the ball forward twice before taking the free kick so he could get the ball into the box was also poor refereeing. The original incident was in their own half

Blowing for a foul from Rooney's headed goal in the semi final v Dundee United was worse. Ridiculous decision
