boboisared
My personal laptop is on the blink so I'm using my company issued one (which I don't really need for work anymore) but the security settings are quite stringent. No youtube, gambling or dirty websites allowed. Does anyone know of a way round this, aside from having my other one repaired/buy a new one? @@Bebo might ken? Link to comment

What OS?Yeah, through my own broadband and I did not log on to the VPN. Our default is explorer but I'm using Chrome at the moment. Will try Firefox or Dolphin. Operating system is Windows Vista. lukas989
Worth checking if its set to a proxy server (via chrome: settings > search 'proxy' in search bar > click 'LAN settings' > uncheck 'use a proxy server...') Link to comment

Did that and it says this: Google Chrome is using your computer's system proxy settings to connect to the network. It's been greyed out so that I can't edit it. Link to comment
lukas989
in that case - try via start up - just search 'internet options', then click the one under control panel; then connections > LAN Settings > uncheck 'use proxy...' Link to comment

It's 'Bypass proxy server for local addresses' and 'use automatic configuration script' that are checked. Link to comment

I'm not based at my own company but will have to use it when I'm over. I'm very rarely there like. "I don't have a machine to work on because I restored your property to factory settings" probably isn't going to fly though. Link to comment

Ke1t
Phone your IT dep, pretend you're a boss, demand an Admin password because all your options are greyed out and someone's getting fired if you can't get online. This will almost certainly get you the backstage pass, but you're going to have to accept that they'll eventually realise you're surfing demented Genki sites and inform an actual boss. Do what I do, have a backup porn tablet for all your fucked up browsing. Link to comment

Back when I used to do desktop support and someone tried that bullshit we would go out of our way to find something incriminating on the laptop and report the cunt. One guy offshore had quite the collection of Muslim execution videos on his machine. He's not offshore with that company anymore. Link to comment
