Billy Mcneill

Remember his one season in charge, most definitely prepared the foundation for the future Fergie success.

Don't normally praise Tims or Huns.

But in this case, dead or alive, Billy always had my total respect.

A hell of an illness the poor man and his family had to suffer.

RIP big man, you will never be forgotten for your part in the Dons' history.

Very true.

Yep Strachan and Archibald

IIRC also brought mcleish through

Yep. From memory McLeish got his chance one New Year because one or two players went out on batter and McNeil dropped them as punishment.

Liked his style then, and now as a memory.

There’s a difference though between clear visionaries like Ferguson (Tunbull?) who will take on and beat the world, visionary realists like McNeil (Macleod?) who clearly and understandably had their heart elsewhere but decided let’s have a right good go whilst here anyway and mere functionalists like Brown, Alex Miller, Smith et al who, whilst talented, aren’t prepared to go the extra mile to break their personal glass ceilings.
