I think Mike Small was right, if the SFA had any vision at all they'd be looking at a purpose built stadium, in a new location to take us Scottish Football forward. Hampden is a dump and Murrayfield isn't ideal for football (running track etc)

 

If they built a new on, I'd make it in Stirling, below the Wallace monmument :-)

Its far too much of a glasgow centric organisation, has always been that way and only reluctantly do they pretend to be a "national" organisation.

 

I'd scrap the Fa in its current form altogether and create a new organisaton - locate it in Stirling, its central.

So basically its a choice of 1 stadium in Edinburgh, or 3 from Glasgow and the rest of the country can get to fuck we aren't even talking to anyone else.

 

What an utterly pre-emptive process, they've already decided the solution can only be from a very narrow set of options before they even start.

 

If the decision is to not renew Hampden (and i hope they don't because its shit) then Murrayfield seems an obvious answer, if even on a shorter term arrangement, say 5-10 years (hampden agreements seem to be 20 years)

 

If Murrayfiled is rejected then the rest of the Clubs really need to fucking grow a pair of balls and say no to 20 years of the SFA paying Celtic and Rangers and widening the financial gap even more in the sport they are supposed to nurture. There could quite easily be a agreement within the SFA that guarantees the matches are evenly spread between a list of approved venues and rent is paid on a absoutely equitable basis. Then at the start of every campaign the matches can be distributed across those agreed venues EVENLY or by some preagreed system that ensures some equality.

 

It cannot be left to the SFA to make a "judgement call" for each game as we all know that will result in 97% of games in Glasgow and they fuck over the rest of us all over again.

Hampden will continue to be the national stadium after they negotiate a lease extension and the SFA will continue to be the national disgrace.

The 2 main flows are from eastern Europe (mostly Poles) and from England (mostly south), Ireland, China and Spain have supplied a fair few recently too but nowhere near English and Polish levels.

 

It is also absolutely true that these groups have very little interest in Scottish football. Disprove that!

It wasn't whether Edinburgh is outstripping Glasgow for growth at present or not that I was referring to. That fact is fairly unarguable.

 

It was a reply to an OxfordDon post, in which he said this fact furthered the argument for Edinburgh having the national stadium. I don't see how it does. Having more people in the city of Edinburgh makes no difference to Scottish football, if those extra people have no interest in Scottish football.

 

For the record, I'd happily see the national stadium in Edinburgh instead of Glasgow if the entire SFA was to be based there too. Nothing to do with city size though.
