AllyDon
Would be nice if the club came out and confirmed how long his contract is once the tribunal has reached its verdict. McIness said at the time he signed his pre-contract that they had been looking at him for some time. That and the fact he went straight into the 1st team would indicate that it would be more than just a standard 2 year deal we would have offered him. Standard 2 year deal would be Ok business by the club but 3 or 4 year deal would give us far more options to make good money from any future sale once he is ready to move on for many, many millions!! Byrne Baby Byrne
Any predictions on the final price? I'm going for GBP 175,000 SFA will arrange £1.25 million and as part of the deal, for some reason, we have to give Scott McKenna to Sevco 4 1 Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
My prediction is that we will get an old steel studded football boot with the studs sharpened shoved right up our arse by the SFA. Hamilton is far closer to the Weege than Aberdeen. Gotta look after their own. Also helps the cheeks if we get done over a bit. Make us skint this window, no more signings unless we punt McKenna to the tims on the cheap. Link to comment

GDON21
The way it will work is it will be a formula to calculate training compensation. From that it will be about 120k to 150k max which is roughly what Aberdeen were willing to pay originally. Hamilton will then make a case for further money based on potential sell on value etc. They will use examples like McCarthy, McCarthur and Hendrie who all were all sold for a good money due to the development by Hamilton. The panel then decide what is an appropriate fee based on the evidence provided. Aberdeen will of course argue the point of all the failed players coming through there youth system. The maximum I can see being paid further would be around 150k and a sell on clause potentially negotiated to reduce the fee. Hamilton best case scenario is around 375k upfront but may take a lesser fee if they are smart and a higher sell on clause after seeing the progress he has made already. Link to comment

McCarthy and McArthur both signed 3 year deals prior to Wigan signing them, hence why they both went for quite a bit of money. Hendrie was still under contract when he signed for West Ham, hence their ability to ask for more money. None of the above should have ANY bearing on Fergusons fee. Link to comment
AllyDon
Reading a bit online about the Charlie Telfer tribunal it said a 5% automatic sell on clause is part of any agreement automatically. This is to protect the club who have put the time/money into training. Any money Hamilton get now is for training costs only and the 5% will protect them should Aberdeen sell him before he reaches 24. Link to comment

From what i read - above has no relevance what would be relevant is all the failed players that Hamilton have trained - because the development fee is also meant to cover pro-rata share of their costs Why i listed 10 players who have benefited from training @ Hamilton over the 4 years of Lewis's training I'm still saying GBP 150K and that is on high end 1 of the training years is at Tier 4 Rates Link to comment
