Tord31
Based on Ferguson being involved in every pre-season game you'd presume he'll be involved in most games Link to comment
SupportmeansSUPPORT
Compensation issue aside, how's this lad looked in pre season games so far? Potential to see a good amount of playing time this season maybe? He attack minded, box to box, drifts wide or what? Whatever we are made to pay will still be good value I would predict and he will play a lot of games for us. For a player so young he has got a big physique so wont be knocked around like may youngsters do, good on the ball, 2 footed, strong tackler and loves to have a shot. He could play anywhere in midfield area (sitting, box to box, or just behind striker) so will be interested to see where Derek decides to deploy him. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Devlin tells the story that he arrived in the Hamilton first team squad training session and went straight through McKinnon. Gets my vote for that alone. Link to comment
tiktak
It took 6 months to sort out the Charlie Telfer one. Telfer moved from Rangers to Dundee Utd for £204k Oh yeah Charlie Telfer, I remember all the fuss over the next Scotland superstar. How did that turn out? Link to comment

BWG
United got done up like a kipper with Telfer as well. He'd left the oldco and joined them and they had to pay compensation to a club that he had never been on the books of. Link to comment
RUL
Paaaaahauaga Why the FUCK would they do that?Because we don't have any choice? It's not like the tribunal can rule we have to pay £750,000 and we can turn round and say have him back we aren't paying that. Link to comment
florin_raducioiu
Don't think we should be hanging about because of the potential fee for Ferguson. They'll have done estimates on what it's likely to be. Surely no more than about £200k, the fee Hamilton are asking for is presumably them trying to scare us into agreeing to pay more than we'll end up paying in a tribunal. Gotta just suck it up when it comes. Don't want to waste all summer waiting for an answer on it before pursuing other targets. Take an estimated £200k or whatever from the budget and get the rest of our business done. If we end up paying more then deal with that when it comes, hopefully a cup run will bridge the gap. As for Ferguson going straight in, the way injuries are going so far we may have no choice but could be a blessing if he hits the ground running. Also keen to see more of Campbell as somebody has mentioned above. Looked very confident when he came on against Celtic last season and slotted straight in. If these two lads can help occupy the centre of midfield positions then we could see Shinnie at left back more often which I've always thought was his best position and gives us more going forward up that side than Considine Link to comment

Dunty
When is this tribunal? I get the feeling we're stalling on new signings because we're waiting to see how much we'll need to pay for Ferguson. If we get hit with anywhere near 900k then bang goes any hope of signing two new players. Link to comment

Yorston Vasey
Wish he would stop being good until after the tribunal. Performances like last night are just going to put the eventual price up. Boy's a star in the making. Link to comment

Parklife
Boy's a star in the making.Totally agree. Looks like he has everything. How long a contract is he on? Hopefully at least 3 years, if not 4! Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Certainly the engine weve been needing. Shinnie will have to adjust to reduced workload but thats no bad thing. Link to comment
Andy_123
Hopefully Ferguson, Ball and Gleeson will be the 3 considered for the 2 CM spots and Shinnie is put back to LB. Liked the look of him last night. Looks a good find. God knows why Hamilton hadnt given him more gametime given they are pish. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Everyone was probably too scared to upset Nutjob McKinnon. Would you put Shinnie and Logan wide of a 2 in Devlin and McKenna or squeeze in Hoban as well? Link to comment

strachanmcgheegoal
Know what you mean. Those 5 with Ball in front, it all went a bit Ash Taylor! Hard to judge Gleason on the half game Ive seen him but that was the hole he was obviously supposed to be filling. But as I said elsewhere Barnsley seemed to have an irrational fear of shooting from outside the box regardless how much opportunity we gave them. Link to comment

I thought the midfield 3 were brilliant in the first half. Shinnie should have passed to GMS rather than shooting on his right but that's nitpicking. Link to comment

However, it should give the team belief that they can make chances next week. Link to comment
GDON21
The maximum Hamilton are expecting is 325K. They seem to think they have a pretty good solid case to get that amount. Aberdeen only offer 100k and haven't offered anymore since. Would expect it to maybe end up around 250k. Link to comment

You'd think we got him on a 3 year deal at least - a deal shorter than that when we need to pay a fee makes no sense. Link to comment

Shinnie should have passed to GMS rather than shooting on his right but that's nitpicking. Sure it was Cosgrove that was the pass, and his movement wasn't great to open up space for him or Shinnie. Still would have been better placed passing it rather than taking on the shot with his right foot. Link to comment

Foster14
They were actually both there. I only really saw the pass to Cosgrove option, maybe angle I was seeing it from. Didn't notice GMS at all. Back on topic, thought Ferguson looked very good. Link to comment
Andy_123
It was GMS. McGinn was free through the middle, GMS took too long and underhit the pass, it wouldnt have reached McGinn anyway. Cosgrove was right to take it and have a go himself. Just a pity it was a weak attempt. Link to comment
