a) Quality of team on slide for last 2 seasons and, pending the next transfer window, could continue to do so.

b) We are going to finish 3rd or 4th this season, which backs up a). Again, if we do not recruit well within the forthcoming transfer window, there is a danger of returning to the bottom six which the document appears to be claiming that we have left for good.

c) Our manager's stock in the game has seriously went backwards since his flirtations with Sunderland and Huns. Again should he oversee yet another poor transfer window and, if the club are really serious about the intent of this document, then they seriously require to replace him with someone with fresh ideas prior to moving to the new stadium.

 

In a nutshell the forthcoming transfer window is crucial to the immediate direction of the club. Get it right and the aspirations of document are valid, get it wrong then the document is no more than a pipe dream.

Interesting read. Nothing in it that you wouldn't expect from a club trying to raise extra revenue to pay for a new stadium and training facilities.

 

Good to see investment in the youth. Need to produce our own players with a view to selling on when the time/price benefits us.

 

Surprised no great announcement of a contract extension by Wiggy at the end of all this. That may still come of course!

The money being put into women's football - sponsorship, prize money, TV money etc is going to rise and rise, especially at FIFA and UEFA level.

 

Chances are, Aberdeen's women's team have more chance of reaching the latter stages of the champions league than the men's team do.

 

If Aberdeen invest a six-figure sum and earn a seven-figure sum from the team being successful, I'd say that's money well spent. It could actually be a lucrative little side earner for the club.

 

It's not as if Aberdeen are alone in this. Pretty much every big club in the world is taking women's football seriously.

They've sold 760,000 tickets so far for the World Cup.

 

Atletico Madrid-Barcelona had a crowd of 60,000 in June.

 

Bilbao-Madrid had 48,000 in January.

 

Juventus-Fiorentina had 39,000 at it a few weeks ago.

 

Two weeks ago the women's FA Cup final had 43,000.

 

And the SFA are estimating, based on ticket sales so far, that they could have a crowd of 20,000 for the friendly with Jamaica at Hampden.
