Tend to agree with those saying the Hat is in decline, some of the better posters are seen less frequently and some of the new posters are driving the place into the gutter.

The end is nigh.

There probably is many reasons why some posters who have been on here for years post les frequently.

It's like everything in life, always a newer generation of people coming through who are more prominent and older people fade into the background.

13 years and two days I've been posting on here and every year I'm less and less frequent.

Correct KSL.  Every year people complain that the hat is in decline... there is just a natural turnover and people and places change!

There's probably been about 5 distinct eras in hat history (1) The Bond Villains, (2) LondonScottish, (3) Tup, (4) The PG's and (5) the current post PG era!  Probably only a handful who've been on here the whole time... people come and go and various big characters have burnt themselves out over the years!

Wish I was around in the Bond Villains era.

Was a very different time!  The Bond Villains took no prisoners and ruled with an iron fist!

I still have the following scars on my own profile, from my pre-mod days.  Shows how badass I used to be:

Bond2.png

So forgive me for chuckling when folk complain that 'the hat has gone to the dogs... etc'.  It was far worse back then!

Haha would be interesting to see everybody's record from back in the London Scottish days. He banned anyone and everyone for not liking Mark McGhee.

I have to say as a relatively new poster, my interest is already starting to dip purely as a result of some of the chat being really poor and far too frequent from certain individuals. This thread being a perfect example. Clearly those individuals want to have a forum, however, unless they change the way they're posting this place will go the same way as Ab Mad.  And it's already quiet here compared to some of our rivals (kickback, hibs.net)?

Yes this thread is gone to the dogs.

RIP afc chat.

This thread has in  part at least gone to the dogs because of the alarming lack of anything positive coming out of Pittodrie - we look like we're starting with a dodgy centre half setup, young or untested UK  (failed in US?) fullbacks, no width with limited creative options unless Glass has worked miracles on players like McLennan. I hae ma doots. The whole place could be in uproar come next Friday if the prawcess isn't working.

Oh yes  and relying on a striker past his best who has been a bench warmer most of the US season.

Other than that you happy enough?

You missed the mad refugees heading over to here and the big huff from LS, resulting in the loss of the hat! Before bebo saved us.

A lot of the shite chat is down to boredom, as there isn't really much happening at Aberdeen to get people enthusiastic.

This results in certain posters just churning out shite post after shite post which results in dildos flying everywhere.

You could say that if you've nothing constructive to say then don't say anything at all, but then this place would grind to a halt if that attitude was adopted.

A few new posters come in, try to make an impression, fail miserably, and then just play up to the role of irritation to many.

Red_John for instance is a poor man's F_n_D. He tries to hard.

Real ITK types, like myself, just say enough and never too often.

Was worried you’d gone missing. Distinct lack of commentary as England made their way through the Euros.

Glad you’re not dead.

Good grief. Imagine taking an online forum full of strangers seriously.

Aye it’s as quiet as Anne Frank’s drum kit.

Disappointing as we are a good bit short.

Even the newspaper rumour sites haven't made a squeak about Aberdeen rumours for a couple of weeks.

Absolutely nothing since Ramirez signed.

Couple of loans later in the window unless Ferguson is sold I reckon.

Everything is dead quiet out of Pittodrie. Either absolutely nothing is happening on the transfer front or all the leaks have now left the building.

Everything is dead quiet because we are still working with a limited budget (No crowds / commercial opportunities limited as a result of Covid restrictions).

We done some business and were now effectively holding until some others move out. This happens every year.

Just some perspective though. Here is a high level league transfer dealings this summer

Aberdeen (6 in, 6 out)

Celtic (4 in, 6 out)

Dundee (3 in, 5 out)

Dundee Utd (2 in, 6 out)

Hearts (6in, 11 out)

Hibs (3 in, 6 out)

Livingston (9 in, 11 out)

Motherwell (8 in, 12 out)

SevCo (3 in, 4 out)

Ross County (3 in, 10 out)

St Johnstone (1 in, 3 out)

St Mirren (8 in , 6 out)

Only St Mirren have increase numbers, most have reduced

Don't know source but we're 3 in only. Stewart. Ginnelly. Cochrane (loan). Unless including Jan window for all these figures?

It's not necessarily numbers that matter though. Hibs for example have only brought in 3 but they had a stronger squad to start with. Nisbet, Doidge, Boyle etc.

We've brought in 6 sure enough, but have failed to add the proven attacking quality required. Ramirez and Jenks are gambles, and ones I'm happy for the club to make - however they should be bonus balls signings, but in reality they are our only hope.

Pretty naff response. Can you highlight how you've come to the conclusion that I'm taking it seriously. All I said was my interest has dipped, wouldn't class that as taking it particularly seriously.

Can’t the idiots on here not just log into www.cunt.net and talk amongst themselves there, and leave the transfer rumours to us grown ups? Just a thought…..

Is the lack of transfer rumours and any other stories  emanating from AFC not down to the departure of a certain individual within the club? The same person who clearly knew he was departing 12 months ago and liked to feed titbits to the likes of Tom English? As Jose Mourinho would say - “I sink so”,
