Betty Swallicks
Aye sure Betty son - all fine n well saying that now - but at the time, we were all cockahoop. Ken, imagine having hope that our manager had not bought an absolute dud. Link to comment
shooftahmooftah
We're working under such a lowly budget, by todays overinflated, TV driven, standards, that we're going to struggle to pick up players of a certain quality all the time. Some of the players he's brought in looked good on paper, and at other clubs. It's only when they arrive that they end up being rubbish, that's not all on the manager. As previously said by others, every manager at this level will have the same issue. The difference is that we notice it because we're supporters of the club and watch Aberdeen every week. i'm pretty sure other fans of other clubs have similar gripes. We're struggling to compete with the money down in England, which means that players on 3-4k and in our budget range are of a much lower quality than 10-15 years ago. We're now in the market of injury prone, brought back from the brink of death, lacking in game time players. There's not a lot we can do about that. "Oh but other teams around us have managed to pick up good players on less", and yet we've managed to be best of the rest for 4 seasons now, so that argument falls on it's arse. It's not the low budget it's the lack of desire and the will to win by some of the players on Aberdeens books. Just look at Ross county's budget they're heading up and they show an attitude that is lacking in the present Aberdeen team. Norwich city another example last night down 2-1 they didn't give up and scored in the 97th minute this Aberdeen team would have given up at half time, no will or desire to win. New players and a new manager like Clarke is what's needed who knows where to look for the type of players that's needed in this Aberdeen FC. Mcinnes has run out of patter and idears 1 Link to comment

We are “competing” in a closed shop where the same team dominates everything every year and now their pals are back it’s even less of a competition for us. You wonder why players struggle to get motivated? 1 Link to comment
Jocky Balboa
Without wanting to pick an argument, I disagree with the opinions that players who did well elsewhere and flopped with Aberdeen is NOT McInnes's fault. I'd say he's at least partly responsible, as it is his responsibility to get the best out of players. Playing them in their correct position... integrating them into a functioning team with clear formation... making correct substitutions (and at appropriate times)... all of these, among others, are squarely at his feet. Sheepo
The problem is the Poor and negative tactics even the players look fed up with lumping it up to Cosgrove, we don't even get the ball wide anymore, can't remember the last time Cosgrove got a decent cross to attack. The poor football this season especially at home will see a reduction in season ticket sales no doubt and forget DNA getting anywhere near 6000 again. The fans need to be entertained or they will simply stop coming and Mr. Mcinnes needs to realise this Link to comment

Proud Dandy
Motivation definitely isnt the problem which is the only thing holding me back from wanting mcinnes out They are clearly playing for him The transfer window fucked him up We need to spend and spend big (for us) on 2 wingers top wingers and a 10 In the cold light of day it's no surprise we look toothless right now with the personnel we haveProbably the most sense I’ve seen you post. We’ve never replaced McLean or Christie and then on top of that we’ve been without wingers for large parts of the season. Obviously the manager failed in the summer and responsibility must be with him Link to comment

Parklife
As I've said before, it's his best ticket to the EPL land he so desperately dreams of. The Scotland gig is ripe for a competent manager to come in and organise the team and get them playing with a coherent game plan. They're better players than they're showing and any manager worth their salt will believe he can get more from them. We have a decent set of players and are just 2 games from the Euros. A Championship in which we'll have 2 (or 3) home group games and can progress from the group stage by finishing 3rd of 4 teams. 1 1 Link to comment
