Can your biological father also be your stepfather??

A random thought I had whilst watching Lingo on Grampian inoo when one of the contestants was asked by the host about her stepfather.

If you are gender-reassigned, are you classified as a newly-born person, and the person you were born and identified as be registered officially as deceased?

For example, if you were born as a male called Colin Bone at birth but through gender reassignment identify yourself as a female called Colleen Bone, would Colin be registered as being dead with the local registrars??

I think that’s right MAD.

There’s a ceremonial burning of belongings but I don’t think Colin would have to physically get inside the coffin. I heard about someone who used to live along the road and the family landed a small fortune in life insurance AND gained a sister/aunt.

"Ceremonial burning of belongings"??

The above makes perfect sense min. I cannot envisage any legal ramifications as to why they cannot gain from the person's life insurance policy as that person no longer identifies as who they were at birth through gender reassignment (and who they identified as being when taking out the insurance policy), therefore who they were born as is technically dead and is registered as being so.

I actually know this Colin that you speak of that transitioned into a Colleen. Lovely legs tbf.

This person was a nephew (is a now niece) of Jimmy, the former St Mirren manager?
