My thoughts exactly. Great player for us in years gone by, but completely finished as footballer at this level.

Dundee can ill afford any passengers in their current predicament - but that’s what they’ve just signed!

Latest in a recent line of “players who used to be good, maybe they’ll come good again” that Dundee have signed

They’ve signed a good few passengers but they occasionally do get a tune from them (Adam for example. MOTM v us) . McGinn will be one of their better & more productive ones IMO. Probably win them a couple of games with free kicks etc.

Would be nice if he gets a testimonial match between us and Dundee, he deserves it, he was a light of hope when he came in, gave us so many great bounces, so many good memories.  He left for a few months to try and cash in but came back - and he has given us years of something to watch on the international break too.

End of an era, farewell Niall.

Why are you back trying to be different again. Absolute fucking weirdo.

What does that even mean? Why do you get so upset when someone has a different opinion to you?

edit: resigning McGinn was a lazy bit of business by McInnes, many people said that at the time. First spell brilliant, second wasn’t even worth doing. There’s some amount of revisionism going on here.

Tell me what notable contributions he has made in the 100 appearances since he re-signed for the club?

From coming back from his holiday to lockdown he had 17 goals and 25 assists. That is just over 2 years. It's not exactly shite is it? Was anyone doing a better job?

Then we went into lockdown and he came back 10 years older. Has scored a staggering 2 goals since... none in the league

Good numbers in 2 years. 42 direct goal involvements in 2 years is good going in any league.

He's also hardly played in those post lockdown games.

19 goals in that time isn't bad. It's over 135 appearances, but majority of those won't be 90 minutes or starting.  As you say, there won't be many with more goals in that time.

Heres a list of attacking players over the last few years: (goals per game rounded to nearest 0)

  • Cosgrove - 47 Goals in 103 games (Goal every 2 games)
  • Ramirez - 12 goals in 29 Games (Goal every 2 games)
  • GMS - 16 goals in 42 games (Goal every 3 games)
  • Hedges - 18 goals in 85 games (Goal every 5 games)
  • Ferguson - 31 goals in 151 games (Goal every 5 games) (most of which are pens)
  • McGinn - 19 in 135 (Goal Every 7 games)
  • May - 8 goals in 75 games (Goal every 9 games)
  • Stewart - 6 goals in 58 games (Goal every 10 games)
  • McLennan - 8 goals in 104 (Goal every 13 games)
  • Hayes - 4 in 67 (goal every 16 games)
  • Kennedy - 2 goals in 48 games (Goal every 24 games!)

The above is taken from wiki, there might/probably will be errors in the data!

How can you round something to the nearest zero?

They would all be zero in that case

Or better yet, don't interact with him in the first place

You're better than that

Can’t help it. Justice for McGinn

Willie on Sportsound talking about Niall saying he insisted on being played as a striker before agreeing to sign for us

Suppose that was towards the end of teams in Scotland playing 2 up front. That suited McGinn. But you wouldn’t play him up front on his own…. He certainly ended up doing very well on the right of that Irish front 3 though

In his first spell he was good. Second shite. Cosgrove is top of that list, was he the best player out of the lot of them?

I didn’t supply no list brother. Why you referencing someone else’s post? Was mine too hard to address?

Cosgrove certainly was good though. Those stats boosted by being penalty taker and taking a hell of a lot of pens mind you

While not hitting the heights of his first spell McGinn still had some moments of brilliance after he came back from Korea.  It was the right thing taking him back it just went on for about 18 months too long.

A great player and servant, a shame he couldn't have had a proper send off.

Should never have resigned him, or not resigned him on the length of deal we did.

wonderful player in his first spell and some special goals. Remember a midweek at Easter road when he was unplayable.

thanks for the memories and my loons (considerably under 30) favourite ever dons player.

and that drop of the shoulder for his goal at tynecastle when we were 3up at half time…made what ever Jambo it was look like a complete tool.

Nutmegged the boy Augustyn, then sold Callum Paterson an outrageous dummy before whipping in to the top corner.

What a goal. What a day.
