Celtic 2 - 0 Aberdeen

Recommended Posts

We are building a decent team and im fairly hopeful we are on for a really good season.

Normally when we are playing Celtic I would have the attitude of defensive, keep it tight, maybe we can nick something etc. but for this one I'm kinda thinking we have enough goodwill in the bank to take a defeat if it happens.

Play our normal tactics. See what happens.

3-1 the filth.

Defensively we haven’t really been tested much yet.
We were a little bit today & didn’t look great.

I thought Hancock played pretty well today but Jota up against him would be a worry.

We’ll also be light in midfield too as neither Barron or McCrorie will be in there.

Hope I’m wrong.

Yep pretty much my view too

Celtic win BTTS.

We still look ropey at the back. We’ve got away with it as the teams we’ve played so far have all been a bit pish. SPFL teams, not just Celtic and The Rangers, will punish us.

Was encouraged by some of the neat link up play between Bojan and Vinny yesterday. Hopefully see more of the same and a fitter Bojan for this one.

new team - free hit

our final league position will not be decided by Sunday. i am almost of the mindset you sent out the reserves and say sod it but think quite clearly we are looking at McRorie and Stewart in defence and Polvara and ramadani Midfield as we went to that set up to a large part of the 2nd half. well done for keeping Scales on so we could still keep up with attacking and defending set pieces as a pair

We looked a bit sluggish/sloppy yesterday, but there will be a mentality shift from a game that we didn't really need to win against an opposition we know aren't as good as us, to a season opener against the best team in Scotland.

Hope they are fired up enough for it to make a difference. But if we get humped, can't let it affect them too much. 4 games to follow could be 12 points, plus a win at Annan.

Would love to get a result and hope we do but we need to winning the next 6 regardless of the result on Sunday. St Mirren, Motherwell, St Johnstone, Livi, Annan and County need to be won if we are to really push on this season. That would give us a bit of momentum going into the the Rangers game.

Aberdeen to channel the spirit of October 2004 and the combined awesome footballing abilities of Messrs Mackie and Pasquinelli, and the frankly inexplicable facial features of John Stewart, to produce a shock 3-2 victory after going 2 up within 6 minutes. Keep The Faith, yeah :sherlock:

Surprised Scales didn't come off yesterday so they could work on formation for this.

Bates to come in as a direct replacement, McRorie to come back and partner Stewart or potentially a new signing straight in. Not sure what he'll do.

As much as I don’t rate Bates, I can’t see Jim Goodwin throwing him in with NO minutes played at all in the league cup games.

It would be unfair on him too & hanging him out to dry when he in all probability gets rinsed by the Tims attack

Aye , the season'll be over if we don't win all 6 games.

Good early test for our new team. Our form going into this game can give the team some confidence.
The pessimist in me doesn’t think we will get a result from this game. I hope we put up a good fight and come away with a lot of positives & progress.
If shit hits the fan it will be good to see what kind of attitude the new players have (will they down their tools or fight).
The optimist says it will be a 2-1 to us with our new look foreign players not giving them too much respect some of our past Scottish players might have done.
