Next Manager

I'd have taken Ross in preference to Goodwin at that point in time. He wasn't a disaster at Hibs and at least he would have come free gratis instead of us having to stump up a fair old chunk of cash in compo to St Mirren on top of the pay-off we had to give Glass.

But as has been said, his short tenure at DU has surely killed off any chance of him managing a club as big as us in the near to medium term at least. He needs to go to a Championship club or maybe the likes of Motherwell or St Johnstone and rebuild his reputation.

The media know nothing hence the usual rubbish being thrown about, but the worrying thing is we seem to have alot of gullible fans, who seem to believe anything on twitter or worse anything they see in a WhatsApp message.

Changed days.

Mintil the amount of folk convinced Lennon is being announced on Wednesday 😂

Burrows is mates with Lennon so expect he will get the job.

Depressing though. I’m not a fan of Lennon at all, I don’t really mind his personality as by all accounts he is a decent guy away from the media circus. It’s more that he’s only really done well when had loads of money to spend. He has no particular brand/style of football and the way he fucked up ten in a row was actually scandalous.

People think he will get the players going because he shouts and screams but that only works for some, not all players are going to respond positively to that.

If the tale about Cormack veto-ing Goodwin signing Kyle Lafferty because of a likely fan backlash is true, then surely he wouldn't opt for Lennon.

As much as folk have been focusing on him being a prick, I'm with @Big Hat Logan - He's not a great manager by any stretch. I can't see him doing any worse than the last few years, but I'd be gobsmacked if he had us challenging for 3rd.

But he is a prick. Neil Lennon can be one too, at times.

I'd hate Lennon as manager but he certainly wouldn't put up with cormack meddling constantly so it would be interesting in the regard.

Alex Neil seems an obvious choice to me but he maybe doesn't want to come upto Scotland yet.

I'm really not convinced he's that great anyway. To this day I still think he fluked his way into the Norwich job who were looking to appoint someone on the cheap. That he then got them promoted via the play-offs, not exactly out of nowhere but I don't think the Norwich directors were expecting it to occur at least in his first 6 months of being in the job. Unsurprisingly they came straight back down as they couldn't afford a squad anywhere near good enough to stay up and in his next season down in the Championship got sacked with Norwich in 8th but a relative mile off being in the play-off positions.

He then did nothing other than what was asked of him by keeping Preston in the Championship but got sacked from there....maybe slightly unfairly.....late on in his 4th season with Preston struggling in 16th spot (they stayed up).

Onward to Sunderland, a club many managers won't go near due to their ownership/board. Got them promoted up to the Championship via the play-offs just over 3 months after taking over. Again a decent performance but Sunderland at that point were certainly in the top 3 best funded clubs in EFL1 so really should have been promoted sooner (long before Neil took over)

His last job at Stoke was an unmitigated disaster and similar to us with Robson, the support there had wanted him fired at least a couple of months earlier than it eventually happened, having served less than 16 months in post.

He was arrogant as fuck after leaving Preston, saying he had no interest in managing up in Scotland for the foreseeable future. My suspicion in England is he's now looking at EFL1 at best so maybe he will review his thoughts on returning to Scotland but I'd really not place him as being any better than the likes of Lennon or McInnes.

Lennon would be a disaster. He’s failed at Celtic and Hibs, but would probably give both sets of fans a friendly wave. He’s made allegations against us. Why the fuck would he be a good fit? He antagonises players and boards. Surely to goodness we aren’t that stupid. Glass was a mate, Goodwin a punt and Robson cheap and on an apparent roll. Lennon is the equivalent of Russian roulette with five chambers already filled and popcorn teeth bringing the sixth.

He's not, he's an arsehole.

And even if he wasn't, giving him the job because he's a good guy to sit next to on a plane 😂

Is it April 1st?

McGowan sees himself as a serious journo as well, dearie me

Tbf, Jack Ross has been interviewed for the job before. He didn't get it (obviously) but it's not an outlandish claim to believe the board still think highly of him.

I'd have Alex Neil over everyone that been mentioned if I had too choose someone

Did a good job at Hamilton, Norwich and Sunderland

Did an OK job at Preston. I'm not sure Preston have ever been a top tier club in my lifetime so it's a big shout getting them up to the Premier. Mid championship feels like a pretty good level for them.

Stoke is the only blemish on his record.

3.5/5 is a decent track record.

All that and he's only 42. As young or younger than our last 3 managers and he's had 11 years of managerial experience and at a better level than any of them.  He's managed at a higher level than any of our managers for decades apart from maybe Craig Brown.

Aberdeen will appoint an interim manager until the end of the season.

Neil Lennon has been ruled out

Aberdeen have spoken to warnock

Alex Neil/Jack Ross also non starters

The club are going through a full review of their football operations from academy to first team, working with elite performance consultants.

Warnock in frame for Aberdeen interim appointment - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68191542

And you know he’s an arsehole how? What is this “sit next to him on a plane” nonsense?
