intresting to see that Pressley is on his way out of "paradise" if he wants to play

and i can't imagine Weir will keep Webster out forever

for SA 2010 our centre back paring has to be McManus with either Anderson or Webster

agreed but those 3 should have been starting at the start of this campaign.

Pressley is shyte and Weir should never have been let back in

So you agree that Weir would've been playing ahead of Anderson if he was in the squad, but disagree that Weir is better?!? :thumbup1:

Correct. Weir used to be better than Anderson but is so past it and slow that it is unreal he still pulls on the Scotland top.

I aint going to disagree with Pressley as I've never rated him, but Weir is better than Anderson

Maybe when weir was 28 and russell was 22.

Now? No chance, and that isnt even being said because i have a bias. I know plenty of rangers fans who totally agree with me on this

on another note though, its a potent front line we have. The midfield is sh*t hot too....... In fact apart from hutton its a spot on team. I remeber caldwell playing def mid when we played italy and keeping totti very quiet so im all for him playing there........... Did he not play there against france too? I should know but i was too drunk at that game and just remeber going mental when he scored

I'm not usually very confident where Scotland are concerned, however I reckon we'll batter them on Wednesday. There are loads of guys in that team that'll feel they have something to prove at international level additionally, the South Africans are apparently in disarray at the moment.

I don't agree that David Weir is a better centre-back than Russell Anderson. David Weir, at his peak, was nothing more than a competent centre-back who could win some headers. He cannot play football. He looks nervous around anyone with pace, and his use of the ball is frankly awful in my opinion. His technique with a football at his feet is of average SPL standard.

Anderson, however, wins pretty much every header, times tackles supremely, and his ability on the ball under pressure was almost unparalleled in the SPL last term by any other centre-back. I also can't remember the last time I saw Anderson misplace a pass.

I just really hope he rises to the fore and shows what he is all about against South Africa tomorrow.

Weir coped admirably in the Premiership. Will Anderson?!? :dontknow:

He coped. I personally wouldn't put "admirably" in there. I really do hope Anderson gets a run of about 6 or 7 games (at least), because I think he'll cope in the Premier League. He just needs a good run, preferably with the same partner at centre-back. He certainly has all the attributes to make it.

Why not? He played for a team that finished 4th in the Premiership. In 8 years, Weir played for Everton nearly 250 times. He also signed for them when he was 29, so the comparison between him and Anderson is a fair one (Anderson is 28?!?).

I'll bet you that Anderson doesn't play that many times for Sunderland or any other EPL team, and I bet he's not there for 8 years...
