K-9
Yep they did in all honesty. Wanted Celtic to win tonight but never Rangers unless they win to give us the league or something similar etcI am more of a hope they get beat so not to get more millions to spend but if they do win then good for co-efficient and therefore good for AFC in a way!! K-9
Thank f*ck someone agrees with me on Nakamura, he's awful. I've never ever rated the guy.Having said that despite these players (and Caldwell) not playng well at all, Celtic thoroughly deserved to win tonight!! Link to comment
Guest TenementFunster
If by qualifying you think they did well then fair enough. They did what they had to and pretty much struggled against far from top class opposition. Celtic could and should have been buried in the first half, Boruc had a couple of very good saves to make and they Russians missed a (non-existant) penalty. If Red Star had a striker worthy of the name they would have probably have put out the huns too. All that said, they did what they had to do but not well by any means. Link to comment

Too many of our fans think like this The OF are the same and should be hated equally IMO. Link to comment

I have no problem any Scottish teams getting reasonably far in Europe as long as they don't lift the trophy. Link to comment

So, I hope they get badly pumped. Link to comment

JimmyJimmy
Agreed. How many times has Artur Borux danced, gestured or pretty much acted the p r i c k in front of our fans at Pittodrie? For that alone I was hoping the wind up merchant be embarrased in the penalty shoot-out. Link to comment
BTR
Doesn't put me up nor down tbh, it's a win-win situation. They go through, it helps the Scottish co-efficient They get pumped, we all get a good laugh There's every chance that if they both do reasonably well in the CL that we'll get an extra one or even two UEFA Cup places. I see that point and agree - but at the same time it's millions in the bank for the Old Firm. The gap appeared to be decreasing between the OF and the rest in the SPL but now I can only see it widening again. I despair at the SPL and how it has turned out over the last 15 years. Have to agree with that. Also agree with the fact that it is somehow less hard to wish Celtic well than Rangers (possibly cos I lived through the Gers 9 in a row period when the team was full of mercenary foreign cvnts, and the media was falling over themselves to congratulate them on every success [and we were, well, pretty sh1t] - a bit like now but even worse) Link to comment

Milners
Don't mind the old firm getting through these days but the fact that only 4 teams get into Europe from Scotland and we are not too far away from getting a few more teams in UEFA which will suit other clubs like the dons. If the old firm gets beat then we will laugh so we can't really lose. Link to comment

simon
mcdonald and brown were out their depth, game passed brown by for 70mins, he can't weight a pass and has no subtlety. if spartak had converted class and possession into goals they would have embarrased them - how many times does this happen at parkhead on euro nights!? rangers were typically rank, devoid of any creative players and having two technically useful players (cuellar, hemdani). if rangers collect a point in the group stages i'll throw acid in my eyes. anyone who wants a remotely competitive league should want old-firm failure in europe (financial rewards), and how can you support teams who average 50-60 thousand every second week while the other teams draw a dribble of that number? 'abergreen'? could be because rangers f.c are institutionally bigoted and glorify the massacring of catholics? Link to comment

simon
yet the "scottish" media hail it as masterclass displays by both of them yeh, absolute trash. for a more neutral account buy the guardian: "celtic were woefully exposed" and "spartak dominated for long spells" etc. it masks over 'our' footballing inadequacies. i hate this triumphalism.
